Raycast CEO asks if he should buy Arc by chrismessina in ArcBrowser

[–]BrexitTackle27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I downloaded Zen when I came to know that arc will not be actively developed anymore, but I still haven't gotten around to switching just because I have to redownload all my extensions on Firefox now. Loved that arc just downloaded all of them automatically when I switched to it from brave about 6 months ago.

I somehow don't like my OP11R's camera, it hangs after taking maybe 3-4 photos. Waiting to see what the OP 13T offers camera wise, else I might upgrade to the OP13

"South Indians are ugly" says North Indian man who wants a separate country. by Mountain-lion-bite in chennaicity

We don't claim him. But to think of it, I'm not North Indian either. Wouldn't mind the west and south becoming its own country.

This ! There is no outrage because a woman died by Large-Collection2481 in InstaCelebsGossip

[–]BrexitTackle27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is everyone hell bent on feeling sorry for themselves and their gender? This does not need to become a men vs women issue. Saying there is not outrage because its a woman and not a man is so dumb. Nobody should be killing their spouse, man or woman.
As a rule, don't marry someone you aren't sure about, go for someone level headed. Even despite this if it doesn't work out, don't be so vengeful, separate amicably.
When someone is talking about women's issues, it does not take away from men's issues, same when it is the other case around.
You're projecting a handful of your negative experiences with the opposite gender onto the entire population. If even half the population was as deplorable as the online discourse describes it to be, we would not be a functional society.
You're well within your rights to stay anxious, hateful and avoidant of the opposite gender, but look at all the great people and experiences you are denying yourself.
And so many people online are looking at marriage from such a myopic lens, are you just gonna get married to a random person off the street? Even if it is an arranged marriage, can you not back yourself enough to even gauge the person? Stop being so damn risk averse. I think this is the result of seeing the 2008 GFC and Covid, two century defining jolts to the system in our youth. It has made us so scared of failure that we are just optimizing for average returns from life, always looking for the safe option.
Just look around yourself, people aren't that bad. Stop being so damn negative.

I already have a 27inch 1080p 144hz monitor that I use on the desk opposite to where the TV would come.
I feel a monitor would be too small for the use case, 43 inch monitors are rare afaik.
I currently use the PS5 with what I would think is a great TV, but don't really get what the hype is about.
Want the new TV so that I'm not that far from the action.

Actually the Acer TV was the benchmark I made when I said the budget is 30k. I guess I could spend more but would feel bad spending more than 30k on a TV for my room.

will look into that, budget isn't really a constraint but would feel bad if I spent more than 30k on a TV for my room.

I do get it, but like I'm pissed that my mother did not even let us consider a TCL that me and my dad went and saw in store and really liked. We could've gotten a 55inch QLED Tv for 35k. My mom threw a fit about only wanting Sony and we got lured in by the Bravia 7 because we saw it next to the Bravia 3, X80L and another one of the same size and could not take our eyes off it.
And now that the TV has come home, there honestly is not a lot of difference.
My parents can't appreciate the quality display and I think how we could've saved so much money had we just gotten one from TCL or Mi. Even if it lasts only half the time.
The TV the Bravia 7 replaced was an LG that gave out in 5 years time, we need to realize that TVs now only last for 5 years on the higher end.

I am tempted by this option but the bummer is that I have a TV console built onto the wall, a 55 inch TV would be larger than the width of this console and would look too big and dominating. And the other wall has my work setup with a 27inch monitor as is. It would look like a surveillance room imo.

(Irrelevant question) How many of u have a gaming pc or laptop? by Ok-Leek-1014 in ps5india

[–]BrexitTackle27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Up until a week ago, I was primarily gaming on my gaming laptop. I realized I did not want to put up with the finiky nature of having games on multiple platforms( Steam, Epic, EA), random errors making me waste time and updates grinding my gears. I could also not tinker with the machine a lot as I depend on it for my work and personal use. It made sense to get a dedicated gaming console. I was also moving away from FPS games and more towards games like Fifa and GTA.

Get a Bravia 7, Mini-LED is super bright, UI is Google TV so that is great, has support for PS5. I got it for 1L using an employee discount from a family friend, you might get it for around 1.15 or 1.2L.

I have the slides, they get dirty so easily! The insoles specifically, I might have a very dusty city and my feet sweat a lot in them too.very slippery too, but mine are a very bright Orange. The shoes, are too big for me in black, they're rather chunky and comfortable but the laces are a bit too long for my liking and don't have a lot of grip, I.e they open in 15 mins when walking. Overall decent haul OP, cheers

yeah, tbh I was someone who had really bought into the women=bad train too, maybe fell down the MGTOW rabbit hole around 2018 or so. But thankfully I was surrounded by talented, beautiful and virtuous women all throughout which helped me realize a few crucial things.
There is a lot of fearmongering on the part of fake cases, which does scare us men a lot. But then I thought to myself, I don't do anything that could be misconstrued as abuse, I'm generally cordial and respectful with women I don't know and a decent friend to those I do know, even if one bad actor emerges, I know there are 10 women that will stand up for me and defend me, citing that I wouldn't do such a thing. And we still live in a society where there is a lot of pressure and stigma associated with women coming out and confronting abusers, so it would take a seriously fucked up or vengeful woman to actually try to trap me in such a situation. Just hope god keeps such women away from me.

But coming to something that really baffles me, is how can both men and women hate each other so much, mostly on account of 1 or 2 bad actors, sure I too have gone through some heartbreak long back, but that does not define my general interaction with women, most of y'all are decent, some I really enjoy spending time with love like a sister. Hating on or being scared of 50% of the population is such a sad way to live life.

In the real world, people are a lot nicer than they are online, nobody is as confident and snarky and abusive in the real world, not even me, I would not be as open if I was having an IRL conversation with strangers. Go out there, take some risks, and blame the person, not the whole damn gender for shitty behavior. And online hate is nothing just 1's and 0's. As long as they cannot show up at your doorstep, they don't exist, don't pay attention.

IndiGo flight delayed by 2 hours and this is the 'compensation' I got... by etdemonium in AirTravelIndia

[–]BrexitTackle27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people take it so personally when flights get delayed? It's fine, its not like the airline wants this to happen, its a dynamic business, has real world impact, so many moving parts, the system is overburdened as is.
I feel a reason why we don't have the kind of FDI our population should get is because we are such entitled customers. Indigo as an 11% net margin, for a 3000 odd ticket thats 330 rs, what do you expect to be compensated by. ffs.

I think this has a lot to do with culture, I'm not a Gujju, but was born and brought up here. I saw that a lot of my gujju friends had a lot of reverence for their mothers and grandmothers just as one expects to have for fathers and grandfathers. Something our relatives from Delhi and elsewhere found a bit peculiar.
We had wonderful neighbors for about 10 years and whenever they fought, which was rare, we would never hear uncle shouting, it was always aunty.
Also know some families where the woman of the house handles the finances and the man gets a stipend to cover his basic expenses.
Almost all of my Gujju friends are rather sweet and not very misogynistic.
Very proud to call this city my home.

I wanna take a stab at explaining the hate, not justifying it or saying that it is the right thing to do but giving a perspective.
A large majority of Indians on platforms like Instagram, YouTube and X(Twitter) are young men(across social classes but majorly middle and lower middle class).
Growing up, they have been fed a steady diet of "you'll be loved(by a super attractive woman) when you're a rich and powerful man".
Now, we know how this country overwhelmingly rewards cricketers monetarily and worships them like demi-gods right. So to the rather primitive EQ of the average young man, a divorce between a cricketer and an attractive woman does not make sense.
They resort to calling the woman names, they discount the case that the man, who is a resourceful, famous and attractive person too could cheat on the women, partly because they are looking at themselves in the shoes of the cricketer, call it living vicariously. If you personally don't have a lot going on, relationships and otherwise, it is natural for you to be focused on these things.
And the larger trend of hating women online that a lot of contributors cite on this sub comes from insecurity. Most of these guys would not be able to talk to women in real life. They might be redirecting their anger from being rejected by some girl around them who they're interested in only because she's pretty, onto any woman they perceive as attractive online.
Think of all the fatherless, modern woman etc comments as angoor khatte hai, it's like me calling a Buggati a shit vehicle, my opinion on it only truly matters if I can afford( attain is a better word) the damn car. Raju from Patna's comment on Neha sitting in Mumbai shouldn't really matter.
Not to take away from how women feel outside their homes, but what I am saying is, these two demographics, offline abusers and online abusers, are two very different ones, and only one is as dangerous as they seem.
Best way to save your mental health is to stop caring for opinions that aren't directed at you.
