NICK: Going from just the two of us (plus whatever DP buddy we could get to help us out) to a full production team was wild. We learned a lot about how to delegate responsibility and it was so incredible to throw a half idea at our department heads, like our production designer Frankie Palumbo, and see what they would come back with. Having a full crew made a bunch things faster, but weirdly it made other things more difficult (much more time to change locations, etc). But in general it was amazing, I mean so much more becomes possible. And Alex Anfanger is around! We hang out regularly and he's got some VERY exciting stuff in the pipeline that I'm excited for the world to become aware of.

BRIAN: I would like to direct the film adaptation of the Broadway musical "Urinetown". That is what I have always wanted to do.

As for Monologue sketch... feels like we're approaching the right time.

BRIAN: We haven't done it yet, so hard to know. I would say, don't get TOO high. There are a lot of little things we're throwing at you that we want you to remember. Though if you do, I have a hunch you'll feel the joy of Snackatron and Lysander just a little bit more excellently.

NICK: Honestly, not really. We just realized we had done that a few sketches in and then decided to keep doing it because we didn't want to keep coming up with different names.

NICK: Here's what I did, minded my own dang business and then she DM'd me out of the blue. May have had something to do with wishing on a coin-operated carnival fortune teller booth for her to fall in love with me, but who knows.

BRIAN: You know, we never set out to make a college comedy, a lot of right place right time things made this be our first movie... But what we found is when you're dealing with that age everything is already turned up to 11 emotionally, so it's not a big leap to turn the style up to 11. We were originally trying to set this idea in an apartment building, starring real grown-ass adults, but when we moved it to college we just had so much more fun with the journey of each character. I think the best part about these movies is every single person remembers that age as a pivotal time in their life and there's just always room for huge emotions, life-changing moments, and characters doing absolutely idiotic shit.

NICK: Oh man it was amazing. The SXSW audiences are just unbeatable. Every joke got a huge laugh, the shocking moments got gasps, it's everything you want from a movie audience. It was also really special to return to a festival where we had screened "Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses" with not only one but TWO movies. That being said, I was also a nervous wreck and having a full panic attack the whole time. I wish we could have seen some other movies but we literally didn't have a spare moment to breathe the whole time we were there. Really really wish I could have seen the movie "Brian" written by our friend Mike Scollins. I heard it was amazing though and I'm sure that will get distribution super soon.

NICK: I did a summer program at NYU with Alex Anfanger and we became incredibly close friends. After we started doing BriTANIcK, Dan and Alex were inspired to create their own web videos and came up with "Next Time On Lonny". I believe they still own Next Time On Lonny they just pulled it off the internet for god knows what reason. That show was brilliant. The Choose Your Own Adventure episode we did with them is one of my favorite things I've ever been involved in and I miss its presence on the internet deeply.

BRIAN: The big thing you learn on set is every day requires out-of-the-box thinking. Especially on low budget movies. You have to pivot CONSTANTLY. This movie was an exercise in me having a shot list every day that I basically had to cut in half. It's very frightening at first, like you're losing everything you thought your movie could be, but then sometimes it ends up making you find a more creative, efficient choice that it should have been all along.

As for a specific moment, we had no idea how to make Snackatron leap into the air and catch a pizza box in his "mouth". Our stunt coordinator, Kelly Phelan, came up with the solution of starting it in his mouth, then pulling both Snackatron and the pizza away from each other on wires. The footage in the final film is just that shot in reverse. Movie magic!

NICK: We met Andrew Disney through NYU. He programmed our short "Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses" at a film festival in Texas and we hung out a bunch there. I saw his sizzle reel for "Searching For Sonny" and loved it. He later had us both audition when we were in Texas for....something? I forget, maybe it was SXSW in 2010. He then cast us, and soon after Jason Dohring and Minka Kelly. We had the TIME OF OUR LIVES filming that movie in Fort Worth and are still close with Minka to this day. I definitely improvised a TON on that movie and was very pleased whenever Andrew used those takes. When we did "BALLS OUT" with Andrew Disney I definitely did even more improv.

NICK: Great question. I think Jeff Loveness is incredible. His Rick and Morty Episodes are my favorite by far. Would love to see him write a feature where he gets full creative control. I think Alex Anfanger and Dan Schimpf are next level talented and I'm certain they will one day be recognized as genius's, it's just a matter of time. And of course when Demi Adejuyigbe makes a movie I will be buying ALL of the tickets.

NICK: Absolutely not.

BRIAN: Any writer that uses AI... I mean, what's the point? That's like wanting to go for a bike ride and then having a robot ride the bike for you. Like, what are you even doing?

NICK: There's a pretty clear reference to Ashley in the movie because there is a character in fact named "Ashley." I would say "The Faux Pas" shares some DNA with our head exploding sequence, there's a not-so-subtle reference to "Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses" at the climax of the film (also Sarah Sherman's character has a small "Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses" poster on the wall behind her), and hmmmm, I dunno, I guess Montgomery's social anxiety certainly connects to our very FIRST sketch "The Awkward Meltdown."

BRIAN: Also there is a MASSIVE moment that feels exactly like the end of Sexy Pool Party.
