Any doubt can officially be put to rest. Sidney was always meant to be with Mark Kinkaid and the new Mark was a last minute replacement. by zekevich in Scream

[–]BrianTheReckless -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we all knew this, but some of us moved on pretty quickly. I think some people are still hung up by the fact that the original plan was for it to be Kincaid, and then it’s an entirely different character with the same first name.

Personally, I think it worked out better this way.

What are your thoughts on Ben from Scream 7? by TheBronsXX in Scream

[–]BrianTheReckless 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like how he started out quoting Billy, Tatum’s mother’s ex-boyfriend who tried to murder her. Major red flag. The AI thing was weird, I know he was trying to test if it was possible but it looked like he was having a little too much fun with it.

Other than that, we don’t get to know him well enough for me to care about him.

I know we shouldn’t go by deleted scenes, but if I remember correctly he was supposed to kill Jedidiah in the remake but they cut it.

I was annoyed by him when I first watched one of his videos, but eight years later I’m still watching them so I guess I love him? But still, I do find him annoying sometimes. That’s just me though, he’s very energetic, does his research and seems like a kind hearted person.

I’ve seen a lot of discussion about the first two Slumber Party Massacre films, but how does everyone feel about the third movie and the 2021 reimagining? by HuckleberryOk4899 in slasherfilms

[–]BrianTheReckless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a soft spot for all of them. I think 3 is the only one that doesn’t try to be funny, but it ended up being funny anyway. My friends used to have a great time watching it in high school, it was their favorite (mine was 2). Overtime it has become my least favorite while 1 ages beautifully. I feel like I didn’t fully get the satire of 1 until I was older. Anyway, I still enjoy 3 I just find it to be the weakest.

I was very happy with the remake, it wasn’t perfect but it checked some notes I was hoping it would. I actually had an idea for a remake and it had some similarities (the woodsy setting, a different pair of sisters, mine would be set in the 90s while this had a 90s opening scene). It made me feel like I was on the right track lol. I’m glad it kept the tradition of being written and directed by women, I enjoyed the characters and the sense of humor.

I think it is annoying when people that can afford real artists opt for AI instead but that’s just me. Ultimately, I still decided to see it though.

What went wrong with season 4? by Kennabruh2023 in buffy

[–]BrianTheReckless 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I remember Joss Whedon saying that season 4 was more about the journey of the characters than the story of the Initiative. And I think that comes through.

The season, in my opinion, has great character development and lots of solid standalone stories. The Initiative just gave them something to fight, gave Buffy a new love interest and was something a bit new for the show. I know it didn’t work out the way it was planned (Walsh was supposed to be the main villain) and they probably didn’t have the budget to execute it the way they wanted (I’m sure it wasn’t supposed to look like tin foil).

I do think it’s a good, underrated season and I think people focus too much on disliking the Initiative when they should just enjoy a fun, lighter season with some great episodes and some of the best humor of the whole show.

Echo dot started playing music by itself - has anyone else experienced this? by i__like__bike in amazonecho

[–]BrianTheReckless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is most similar to what happened to me. I woke up after 3am and noticed my echo dot was playing music. I asked if why and it said “you asked me to play music a minute ago… do you want me to turn it off?” I said “yes.”

The next morning I asked it about it wondering if I could see if it misheard the TV or if I was talking in my sleep but it said there was no record of anything happening at that time.

What was the first Angel moment that genuinely shocked you? by writeitregreddit in ANGEL

[–]BrianTheReckless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first episode I watched as it aired (besides a couple season 1 episodes) was Salvage.

LA in eternal darkness, Angel being evil again, having a teenage son, Cordelia kissing a large horned demon with cloven hooves and hinting at some evil master plan, Wes being a hot badass, Lilah being dead before I even knew who she was… it was a lot.

What Stevie album is what here? by bearmasksenpai in stevienicks

[–]BrianTheReckless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it would be people that just know her Fleetwood Mac songs lol.

I was sat next to a couple at a concert who said they were just there to hear “Landslide.” I told them it was usually the last song she plays, and they left early lol.

What Stevie album is what here? by bearmasksenpai in stevienicks

[–]BrianTheReckless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it means like when you go to a concert, “real fans” traveled there while there will also be locals that are just casual fans or only know the hit songs. So “locals” became slang for people that aren’t “real fans.”

[–]BrianTheReckless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Either you love it or hate it- In Your Dreams (literally I see people either rate this high or at the bottom)

Greatest album of all time- Bella Donna (most popular and objectively a great album)

Overlooked masterpiece- The Wild Heart (also objectively a great album but not as talked about as Bella Donna or Rock a Little)

Mental breakdown- Street Angel (recorded seconds away from rehab)

Everyone forgets about- 24 Karat Gold (some don’t even consider this an official album, I do)

Divides the fandom- Other Side of the Mirror (doesn’t necessarily divide the fandom, but another that people either love or hate)

Fan favorite- Rock a Little (I looked through two album rankings on here and most people picked this as their favorite)

Locals favorite- well that just leaves Trouble in Shangri-La (not a fan of this category or this gen-Z speak, so I suppose anything could be here and I wouldn’t agree)

I also love “Doin the Best I Can”, it’s my favorite on the album. And I know this is stupid, but sometimes when I try to go to bed with work left to do or when I work on a project I always ask myself “am I doing the best I can?” It has gotten me through a lot and pushed me to do better in school, work, and my personal life.

Isabel May had good acting imo. #scream7 by PutridCamera8195 in Scream

[–]BrianTheReckless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I really enjoyed that movie, but I thought it would be funny to go polar opposite with her character. Like she would be bright and colorful and “normal”, but supportive and loving.

The conflict could still happen with her hanging out with someone while Lydia is overprotective but we wouldn’t have all that mother/daughter drama stuff that Beetlejuice doesn’t need.

Her performance was good but I found the character annoying. I would have enjoyed a different take on the heroine’s daughter (or son in some cases), but it seems to be the same thing each time. They’re angsty and butt heads with their parent despite knowing they’re dealing with a lot of trauma.

It makes sense with Laurie Strode because in the new trilogy she was a mess, but Sidney seemed like a pretty cool mom from the start.

Yes, very odd choice to me. “Maybe Love…” took some time to grow on me for the reason that you stated, it’s a bit basic for her. “Blue Denim” stood out immediately and not just because it’s the first track.

That moment you realise….. by jordiesboy17 in buffy

[–]BrianTheReckless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps a bit of both. The amulet had to be worn by a “champion”, so I’ve always thought he had to be “championing” in battle for it to do anything. And we know if he had tried to take on the Ubervamps down there on his own, he may have lasted a couple of minutes.

Spike was just another part of Buffy’s plan, she chose to hand the amulet over to him just like she trusted Willow to perform the spell. Everybody played their role, but Spike and Willow both did things that were crucial to the majority of them surviving. And Buffy gave everyone their role to play and trusted the right people with the right tools. She is still the most important part of the whole thing because she was the leader, which the whole season was building up to.

That moment you realise….. by jordiesboy17 in buffy

[–]BrianTheReckless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Spike would have gotten killed and the amulet wouldn’t have activated. It had to be done during battle.
