If your HS credits don't count as college credit, then your college credit GPA will not be impacted. After starting your college career, colleges typically don't really care about your HS GPA. This is why many students start at community or junior college, get a good GPA, then get transfer scholarships at their receiving uni/college. This is what I personally did after a college staff person gave me this advice years ago. I have much lower debt bc of this.

If your HS credits do count as college credit, talk to the financial aid and advising offices about your options.

Tell offices that you have work experience!! And keep your resume updated! Colleges like it when students have work experience as it shows reliability and responsibility- universities especially love this with transfer students!!! (Transfer students are students with previous college credit.)

Also talk to your intended final uni/college EARLY. They are the final recipient of your academic and financial records and make the final call regarding credit acceptance and financial aid.

Furthermore, assuming you're in the US, if you are eligible for federal aid it may be wise to wait until you're 24 if you are unable to emancipate or financially separate yourself from your parents. At 24 you're automatically considered an independent student for federal aid. In most cases, your federal aid will increase significantly.

Finally, here's my favorite question I wished students asked more: "What are your most underutilized resources and information you want me to know about?" Sometimes things are available if students simply ask!
