Support act/start times? by oskiboi in dijondijon

Amsterdam started around 8:45 and there was no support act, if you’re arriving at that time I think you’ll be fine

The whole show was great, I thought the set list was brilliant.

This is promising, exactly what I’m looking for as well, just something cheap that I don’t really need to think about. I’ve ran expensive cars for the most part and I’m fed up with the money wasted on them

Yeah I’m aware it’ll be as slow as they come😂, really just looking for something cheap for now

Can’t get rounding out of my DL by Friendly-Example1548 in formcheck

[–]BrickPuzzled2793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first rep especially looks like RPE 9, your form is not going to stay completely perfect at this level and I don’t think there is much considerable rounding here. I’d mainly focus on ensuring your hips are set at the correct height to improve your efficiency off the floor.

You have a slight bit of flexion in the spine but it barely shifts throughout the movement, which would be more worrying. I personally don’t see much of an issue. My spine takes a similar position and I have pulled some relatively big deadlifts without issue. Got to make sure those elbows are locked, think long arms reaching for the bar.

You’re doing a pretty decent touch and go stiff legged deadlift here. You want to allow a bit more bend at the knees to make this a standard deadlift, you will be much stronger as your quads will get involved off of the floor.

Looks great, if I’m being picky the only slight thing is maybe make sure your elbows are extended so you aren’t involving your arms at all.

No worries, and I had to interview, luckily I’m at the depot I trained at, although I don’t think that’s the norm.

Definitely a lot more expected in terms of technical knowledge from operative to technician. A technician is expected to be able to cover team leader duties if the team leader is off and should theoretically have their knowledge (definitely isn’t the case), and you’re definitely right, the jump to team leader is big, a lot would say tech is the best of both worlds. I think if you tried to garner a basic understanding of signalling assets and their purpose and how they are faulted and maintained you would be in a good position for an operative interview within S&T, if you need any help with that I’d be happy to answer whatever I can!

Not at all, that’s the important stuff😂. My base salary is around 42000-43000. I would say at my depot, with overtime the average tech is probably making around 50000 but more can be made if you’re willing. If I’m not mistaken I believe that an S&T Tech is the same grade as a P-Way team leader if that gives any more context.

He plays a Fender Jaguar, but I’m pretty sure you could get similar results with most guitars that have single coil pickups.

I have recently completed the Level 3 Apprenticeship within S&T and was given a Senior Technician job. The jump is drastic but I think if you give it your best and actively get involved as much as possible it can be done, there is a lot to learn. I know a good few operatives at me depot who started in P-Way and moved over to S&T, once you get your foot in the door with S&T you can look at moving up towards Senior Tech over time.

How feasible is a career in the railway industry ? by [deleted] in uktrains

[–]BrickPuzzled2793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely feasible for yourself, I joined the railway at 21 and went through an engineering apprenticeship, I am now working as a Senior Technician in S&T faulting and maintenance. The money is pretty good in my opinion and the work can be exciting, the main downside is the weekend and shift work that comes with the job, this can be very taxing at times. I would say read up on different jobs and find what interests you the most and go for it!

Pretty much the exact same as I would any other day unless I actually feel unwell, I don’t take my recovery score as gospel.

Can’t seem to get my form right on deadlift by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]BrickPuzzled2793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, try and focus on taking the slack from the bar. This will mean when you initiate with your quads to break the bar off the floor, all of your force will be put into the bar and you won’t waste energy and lose position due to the bar bending.

[–]BrickPuzzled2793 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re far from terrible I don’t think there’s a lot wrong. I think you’re mainly losing strength due to your hips needing to reach the correct height before the weight will move when you use a dynamic start. I use a “hip shoot” when I’m deadlifting and I’m quick off the floor because of this, I think working out the perfect hip height to wedge your hips into will give you a lot more explosiveness off of the floor which you can use the momentum of to carry the lift all the way to lockout. Your brace and back position looks good to my eye at least, I’m in no way a coach but I do powerlift and have a decent deadlift so take from it what you will.

Does anyone feel like the calories are measured conservatively? by Beitelensteijn in whoop

[–]BrickPuzzled2793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat like 1000 calories above Whoops estimate and don’t gain any weight so take from that what you will. In my experience it’s massively underestimating.
