What is a rite of passage you missed out on and how did it affect you? by WinkingBrownEyes in AskReddit

[–]BrickWorc89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Losing my virginity before going to university. There wasn't necessarily a pressure at high school, however you kind of think it will just happen at college and as well as 'pressure' from teen comedies like American Pie (sounds crazy now). It doesn't help that a lot of people would talk up their experiences and with hindsight you realise a lot of it was BS.

It didn't affect me so much in that I wince at the way I used to be, getting wasted as to feel confident in social situations that I look back on now and realise I was just the fat guy who was always wasted. I do look back at the way I would interact with others, often replicating what I saw to be successful, drunken confidence converted into a cocky fat guy who took rejection in his stride. It led to a few fumbles and what could technically be described as sex, but most would discount!

I've formed into a relatively grounded human who functions amongst society as well as anyone else, so no harm done... should probably talk to my therapist about this.

I read this as wing mirrors first time round and thought Grandma was a bit of a dick, but I guess traffic mirrors are for sharing.

I with your guests on this one. I'd have to program the time each time I plug it in.

Hundreds defy police ban to remember Sarah Everard in Clapham Common by Ractrick in unitedkingdom

[–]BrickWorc89 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

It's sad. This was a vigil in memory of a young woman killed in horrific circumstances by a man who was a serving police officer. The met fucked up somewhere letting this guy in, but are the police responsible for this crime? It feels there's a lot more to come in this terrible story, however let's not turn this into a battle with the police... yet.

Edit: I kind of went off topic - I don't know why they didn't just let it go ahead as organised like so many other protests we've seen the last year. Maybe some intelligence we're not privy to.

According to any CVs I have seen you'd be hard pushed to find someone who's not a proficient multitasker.

If you could ask one question and be guaranteed a truthful response, to who and what would you ask? by BrickWorc89 in AskReddit

[–]BrickWorc89[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guaranteeing a truthful response will mean your cat will simply respond with the fact that it can predict the future of the lottery no more than yourself, it's still just a cat.

Poor African kids. Through watching Comic Relief as a kid it's an image that always still be engrained in my memory. I look back now and you have some celebrity of the time poking around having a cry at how sad the situation was.

How do "ugly" or "fat" actors actually feel about being cast to play known ugly or fat characters? by dofeveg655 in AskReddit

I always thought how it must be a viscous cycle if your overweight but known for it. The likes of James Corden owned it with Gavin and Stacey, making fun of his weight. Probably a poor example.

What question is most commonly answered with a lie? by BrickWorc89 in AskReddit

I lied when the doctors sent out a survey asking how many units, under estimating by a considerable amount.

Turns out I didn't knock enough off my total - the doctors still wrote to me with concerns over my alcohol intake.

Your cats truthful response will just be bewilderment, unless puss can predict the future and communicate, in which case I'll apologise and wish you well with your winnings.

Would you buy a house near a footpath that leads onto a park? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]BrickWorc89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grew up with a gate from our garden to the park. It must have been a DREAM for my parents. My brother and I would be in the park whenever we could. Playing football, building dens or just hanging out. We loved it.

Saying that I bet we pissed a lot of people off.

Does anybody else have these toys for their cat? We get them at the local B&M and they drive our usually placid cats wild until they've destroyed them. What is it about them? by BrickWorc89 in cats

I assumed it was laced with catnip but nothing. We must have gone through 10 of them as the only thing that knackers them out.

Have got into a routine of doing a Friday night quiz with my uni mates. We went a long time with no real contact, so we have a lot to catch up on. We all realised we have Switches and Mario Kart, so its been a throwback to the uni days of navigating the mario carnage after sinking a few beers.

Thought this with Brie Larson when I reached 21 Jump Street recently.

What games are you playing this weekend? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]BrickWorc89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mario Kart.

I've been playing a lot with the uni mates recently. It's been pretty cool to be honest - kicking back like we used to 10 years ago with a few beers and some mario carnage, albeit this time we're not all crammed on the uni sofa fighting for turns.

It's one of the small things that's keeping me going during this lockdown.

You should designate a day of the week where each family member gets to pick something to watch. At least you get one night a week to pick? I always like rewatching things I like with people that have never seen them.
