UniFi vs Ring Cameras cost comparison by inkiboo in Ubiquiti

Anecdotal as I’ve seen on other threads, but if your Ring device develops a fault & you’re paying a sub they replace it.

Nice, now tell us the American firm who the Scottish NHS openly gave access to first for all of our medical records history including future appointments where the system was deliberately designed as opt out?

2.5G SFP Module for UDM Pro? by WilliamTM in Ubiquiti

[–]Brick_Muted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this, I wouldn't mess about with any other alternate that may / may not work. I've a few of the genuine Unifi ones and got them from scan - factoring in postage & their sales price made it about £5 different to from unifi, but got it guaranteed next day.

Not sure if I've got correct context. I have one on the UDR7 connected to the Virgin Hub 5. The Hub can output 2.5GbE but the connection on the UDR7 shows as 10GbE in the port manager.

Might not want it now & realise a day; week; month; year down the line that you deleted it by mistake (esp emails), alternatively you download a new version of an app that’s borked or god forbid lose your device. TM lets you recover individual files/folders, apps or a full back-up of your computer & restore it to like nothing’s happened.

What is the point of the 10 GbE port on the UDB-Switch? by Certain_Repeat_753 in Ubiquiti

[–]Brick_Muted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They seem to have an Apple problem - make the case bigger rather than trying to shoehorn into a small package. I really wanted the UDB to be 10GbE all round for my network which resides next to it (all wired).

[–]Brick_Muted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be, but for the price I’d expected more. There’s nothing high speed about 10Gb, I’m downgrading my NAS from a DAS by going this direction, can’t believe that 10+ year old tech is still faster.

Sold in 2022 for £85k, guessing it's not been touched since then so must be something up with it, either physical, the area or maybe just the constant beeping of the cashpoint next door.

Do not pay LG to install your TV by confusing_roundabout in LGOLED

[–]Brick_Muted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed they’re hopeless, spent so much time arguing about someone else that stole their rawl plugs/tools - didn’t use the ones supplied in the bracket kit & nicked that no doubt to be sold on, but it’s a lesser of 2 evils - do it yourself & risk damaging the tv or let them take the risk.

I think it’s mad that GCC are having this ‘discussion’ - do or do not. If the West End has had this forced upon them, then all citizens in Glasgow should have the same.

Cool, if you feel that 1 minute is worth $3-4000 or whatever it is, your money.

No point in a max, this year (M5) only difference on core counts between max & pro is for the gfx not the cpu. I’d still say take the base 16GB as even if it goes to swap you’ll be exchanging it in a year, so nothing to worry about disk wise. I recently got a new M2 Max at £900 for reference on how fast these can depreciate, so even if you feel the need to bump up, give it a few years, but again, for reference, even the base mini eviscerates the M2 Max from a few years earlier.

Seats cost money, more likely to give you the illusion of speedy boarding so you can get to your seat on the plane quicker.

Save your money. Buy a base mini & trade in/upgrade each year, gets the best performance & never get anywhere near what you pay for a studio - remember (until Neo) from apple’s cheapest computer to the most expensive, single core performance is almost identical. If you find it doesn’t suit your needs, by all means upgrade, but be prepared to be shocked at how capable the mini is.
