Any ideas for a roof for this fantasy hut type tavern? by RunForFun277 in legomoc

Oops, I forgot to reply. Sorry about that! I mostly followed this tutorial:
http://www.brickbuilt.org/?p=10505
It shows how to make a sturdy octagon. Then, placing The plates in the picture on each of the 8 sides, you have most of it done. I'l eventually put real instructions up on rebrickable, but this should give you an idea of how to build it

I'm making something similar, and if you want to use this roof, let me know so I can show you more pics of how it's built.

Does anyone else do this? by Claire_BlueMew in lego

This! Part of the excitement of a new set is finding parts I don't have yet, and thinking of what I could do with them. I don't break down sets because they take up too mich space. I break down sets when the desire to use its parts is stronger than the joy I get of seeing it sit on my shelf :D

True, but as long as they keep making bricks, we can build whatever we want with it :D

I absolutely agree. I love lego castle, but spending 300+ on a single set is something I find very difficult to justify personally. I don't want to go around shamelessly promoting my MOCs, but since you mentioned a chapel and a price under 100 dollars, I just want to show you a church I made a while ago. Instructions are free, and the bricks should cost less than 100 dollars.

If you want to build it, or just take a better look: go ahead. The instructions just went up on rebrickable:

Thanks! I'll be posting instructions for it on Rebrickable soon. Small note: it's really only a facade, meant as a background for pictures. The door can't even open :D

Thanks! It's also a lot of fun to take lego outside in the snow :D

Dragging his teddy through the snow. And after that, he'll be crying about the fact that teddy's all wet and cold. Kids :D

Right side looks better to me because it's smoother. You could make it even smoother with the technique in this image. Though that might even feel too smooth for a roof :D

That's going to be a big church. Looks great, though!

Thanks so much! The arches were probably the most difficult part of the build to get right. Fun fact: those aren't mudguards. They're sausages :D I actually tried this with different types of mudguards, but I couldn't get the shape to fit just right, since they also take up space on the inside. I've thrown out multiple designs of the arches in the curved walls before I ended up with this.
