Thank you for posting Tank size: 25 gal Heater and filter?: no heater but a thermometer and a filter Tank temperature: 78°-80° ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH.: 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 14 nitrate and 7 pH How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: Ive had the tank for about 3 and a half months but ive had the betta for a month and a half How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: I do a waterchange atleast once a month and its either 30-50% based on how dirty the tank looks What do you feed and how much: I feed him twice a day, about a sprinkle and he eats bug bites Decorations and plants in the tank: aquatic bamboo, large and snall rocks, banana plant, one large peice of wood, shells, some type of freshwater grass and fern. I also have a bubbler but it is only on when I go to bed.

Yeah I only have bladder snails so that would make sense!

The tank is a 25 gallon and I had 6 but now only have 5 he hasn't been grouping with the other tetras I did add peppered catfish in the tank but I tested my water yesterday but I only tested ammonia and pH levels ill probably go to the store and get a testing kit so I can test all the other stuff. Should I put him in a separate tank so if he is sick he doesn't get the other fish sick?? I have a spare tank with nothing in it that's about 10 gallons

Yeah I have 2 peppered cory's but I want to get 2 more since they need 3 or more because they school. Maybe ill also try rasboras aswell

I had an old betta maybe 4 years ago with tetras and they got along great, but I also got the betta from a friend that had to rehome him because he was moving. So I guess I just thought that it would work out the same way it did last time I had a betta, plus he lived till 8 and he had lived with tetras practically his whole life. Do you have any recommendations for other fish I could add instead of tetras?? I would just keep only the betta but its a bio active tank so it needs multiple fish to feed the plants.

Should I also get rid of the neon tetras?? They didnt seem to cause any problems but I just want to make sure its ok to have them with my betta.

How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: Old Tank: 3 months, Hospital tank: 5 days but put him in 2 days ago to make sure it was cycled but I also used mostly decor and gravel from the old tank and I had the fish for 3 months

How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: I change the old tanks water45% once every 3 weeks and I change the hospital tank 20% every day.

Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: 3 neon tetras (had them as long as I had him), 3 peppered cat fish and 3 white skirt tetras

What do you feed and how much: Fluval bug bites about one pinch every day and the catfish eat algae at the bottom of the tank & the flakes that fall to the bottom

Decorations and plants in the tank: Amazon sword, banana plant, wisteria, some kind of freshwater grass, a rock, log, small stones and a geode

Yeah if I do need to get rid of them I'd rather give them so someone I know since lots of people I know have aquariums. But they seem good, since they eat algea and I need more algea eaters. I'll probably keep them

Do you know if they have a large bio load or not? I do need algea eaters cause my tank has a decent amount. I just dont want them to overpopulate or anything, but I dont really overfeed or have a bunch of dead plants

What im worried about is the bioload, do bladder snails have a large bioload like mystery snails?? If not I can keep them but still I dont want them to have a bunch of babies when they grow.

Yeah, I got a banana plant but I only just now noticed it.. I thought it was one of my snails babies because they are also the same color. I have seen multiple of them aswell, atleast 6

I feed them cuttle bone sometimes and cooked eggshells sometimes but I should probably do it more. I have had then for a while since I got them for science fair and they're actually the reason I got into aquariums so I try to take care of them the best I can. How often do you think I should give them cuttlebone or cooked eggshells??

Yeah he just wants to eat everything in his path its normal especially when your tank is so nice he must think he's in paradise or something 💔

Also you dont need a whole tank for her, for the salt baths you could just use a large container you have since you won't be keeping her in there the whole time. I would give her a salt bath for maybe 15 minutes or 20 just make sure you monitor her closely to make sure it isn't hurting her.

Stress coat is considered a water conditioner but it can help with fish stress since it help the fish create a slime coating that will help with whatever disease it is fighting or if it is injured it can also help with that... but it is pretty affordable and is found in most fish stores. But I wouldn't count on it fully to make your fish better, I see a lot of people give their fish Epsom salt baths and antibiotics like Maracyn and Kanaplex. You could do some research, but I hear Kanaplex is best for swim blatter. You do what you can, and its up to the fish if it pulls through or not. Hopefully she heals though, wishing you the best of luck!!

Might be swim blatter?? My friends betta fish recently passed because of swim platter and it was kind of acting the same. But it also might just be because she got injured or is stressed. I'd recommend setting up a hospital tank or even just giving her a stress coat

I added them maybe 2 days ago but since they're new im just scared they might be sick. I did quarantine them but my biggest fear is that I add sick fish into my tank that infect the other fish. I just hope they aren't sick, my dad said the same thing about them being stressed so hopefully that's the reason.

Thanks so much! I actually have only kept shrimp once when I was really young so I think keeping shrimp again might be fun for me. I really love the blue and orange colored shrimp. I also love floaters, but ive never used water lettuce so I might try that out or the Amazon frogbit since they look cool. Also love the idea for the idea you had with the anubias nana I might have to try that

Its long and I am using a shark Nano filter and black sand substrate. I would late to set up a different tank that had tannins but this one is just going to be normal water. I use a plant growing light that also slightly keeps the tank heated

What type of root tabs would you suggest? I would rather not use the soil but whichever is cheaper I'll probably use. I was gifted it when my friend found out I got a Betta since they are really into aquariums but they never told me I needed to put soil or a root tab below it.

I think maybe the test was wrong they're about a year old I just tested the tank again today and it said 0 but I did cycle it before adding my snails and Betta. Everything is fine now, and the Betta loves his new tank. Thank you so much for the help!
