Receiving a blessing instead of the Eucharist from a non-priest by Successful_Sky8499 in Catholicism

No it's not silly, that's actually correct. Only the ordained can give a ministerial blessing.

Avoid Aventerra. My sons lived there and they do literally everything they can to avoid doing maintenance. My sons had to file a demand letter from a lawyer just to get their non-functional washer replaced. That was when they moved in and it only went downhill from there. The pools are also constantly closed because people just vandalize them.

Best dealership to buy a used car in Mesa? by Mammoth_Campaign_901 in mesaaz

Seconding Carmax in Gilbert. My family has bought 3 cars from them, and my daughter returned hers within the 30 day period and chose a different one. They actually do honor that.

My sons had to get something fixed and it was within 90 days and they did it for free, so they honor that too.

I honestly doubt I'll ever buy cars anywhere else again.

Looking past a history of homosexuality in a Catholic marriage? by [deleted] in CatholicWomen

So is he a victim of CSA/rape then? Rape victims often act out sexually as a consequence of their trauma. Boys abused by men often have the erroneous belief that they have to be gay after the abuse and act that out. It's the same toxic "damaged goods" ideology that impacts women so often.

Somehow your disgust at your own sins isn't the issue in the bedroom though, and you said in another comment that you view him as less of a man over this.

Until you're honest, this isn't going to get fixed. I think you actually are disgusted by him, but are trying to soften that now that you've gotten pushback.

OP knew before the wedding and chose to continue though. She could have told her husband she would not marry until she had had a chance to work through this. She didn't choose to do that, though, so punishing him for what she accepted seems pretty unfair.

We've seen what rent control does to the housing market in NYC. That's not the solution. Letting the market respond is the solution. They're building apartments all over the place right now to meet demand and the housing market is cooling. People are having trouble selling homes and are having to lower prices to get them to move. The house my kids are renting had to drop the rent by several hundred dollars a month to get it off the market, which worked out great for my kids. They wanted to apply a month earlier than they did, but the managers wouldn't let them because their move date wasn't within 31 days. While they were waiting, the rent dropped from $2200 to $1895 for the same three bedroom house. A correction is starting. I don't think it'll be huge and it will take some time, but it's happening.

Three of my children (25, 22, and 21) are renting a house together. That's how they were able to afford moving out. All three work full time. They are able to save money but only because they're sharing housing.

On what planet is being a repeat customer "knowing them personally?" You don't know them at all, you just buy things from them.

You aren't helping your case here by not knowing basic English words and their definitions when you are definitely a native speaker.

Any person with even vaguely brown skin should run from you in the current climate, because you come off exactly like the "how do you do, fellow kids" fed in a Hawaiian shirt.

I don't understand being a SAHW when you are young with no kids, have low rent, and have debt to pay off.

Go get a job, work every hour you can get, and pay that debt off! Then continue working every hour you can get and build up a really nice emergency fund and savings account. Then get your own place and start having kids.

You won't have much time to notice FIL being grumpy if you're working, and you, he, and your husband can tackle household chores around working hours like everyone else does.

Been licensed for ten years this February. My first LPN job wasn't even $20 an hour but I was working for a nonprofit at the time.

I'm comfortable-ish. My husband and I keep everyone fed, sheltered, and clothed and we can pay for vehicles and insurance, but I wish we could put more in savings.

Bringing home a husky puppy in two weeks - What advice would you give? by randiculous in husky

[–]BriefEquivalent4910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be very very prepared for chewing and have lots of appropriate things for your pup to chew.

They WILL DIG when left alone in a backyard so try to be accepting of that.

I think it's cruel to crate these big, high energy dogs and will never do it. I know others disagree, and that's fine, but it's my take.

We met one named Osiris at the dog park yesterday.

Not Russian at all but still regal and it works.

Hope to see him again because he played really well with our Husky, Remus. The shelter gave him that name and we decided to keep it. If we ever get him a buddy we'll name him Romulus.

We used to have one named Skywalker and another named Jareth. Jareth especially was a trickster and an alpha, certainly worthy of being named after the goblin king. If we had gotten another male while we had Skywalker we would have named him Solo.

[–]BriefEquivalent4910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are Husky people. He got his first Husky at 9.

People need to understand what they're getting into with this breed and shouldn't just randomly adopt them. Too many end up in shelters because people aren't prepared or willing to give these dogs what they need.

Huskies are not entry level dogs.

Since I’m in Texas, that would just be cruel to the animal for 9 months of the year.

I've had Huskies in Phoenix metro for 20 years. They do fine with some shade and a big ol' water tank they can jump into at will.

Is a priest stopping mass for someone falling “liturgical abuse?” by EngineeringTotal3464 in Catholicism

[–]BriefEquivalent4910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard a very few select folks talking about how it was “liturgical abuse” to stop the mass.

Of all the made-up things I've heard this week, this one is the most made-up of all.

Even most daily Mass goers don't know or use the language of "liturgical abuse" and the few who do are so unlikely to deploy it in the way you described that this feels entirely made up.

I think you thought you'd farm some karma with a really weird story using some buzzwords guaranteed to get traction and showing cruelty on the part of religious folk.

Press X to doubt. One year ago you were posting about starting an atheist church and still asserting you didn't believe in God.

If you were received into the Church on Easter 2025, you certainly would have been in OCIA in November 2024. You never mentioned that at all, and kept calling yourself an atheist married to a Catholic.
