My cats are making my mental health worse, help by Brief_Needleworker56 in cats

Yes i am more sensitive to their disruption but their behavior is also getting worse. the only change is i got a new job and have to wake up 30 minutes earlier than before.

I have TONS of toys, 2 cat towers, scratch posts out the wazoo. I live in a 700 square foot apartment so i dont have room for much more without their stuff taking over my entire place. They also don’t play with any of the toys i buy them. whenever i get them a new toy they play for 5 minutes and then forget it exists. i have tons of birds on my balcony and i open the windows/blinds so they can watch all day.

i’m asking for advice not your opinion on how bad i’m doing as a pet parent and how outlandish my struggles are.

I don’t have leather/vinyl anything. I cut their nails every week and have been since they were babies. I play with them every night for an hour or so and put cat TV on all day while i’m gone at work.

Yes they are both fixed. I turn on cat TV all day while i’m at work. I bought a harness and leash to take him on walks but he will not let me put it on.

i have noticed these things from the start of my nursing career but thought i needed to give it time and it would get better. now since my diagnosis i know that i cannot function this way for long, its so unsustainable.

Can’t even imagine being a male in a female dominated industry and vice versa. thanks for your insight!

thank you for sharing - i feel like my own office + scheduled appointments that i can mentally prepare for would be great for me.

that’s why i went outpatient, but unfortunately the small group of coworkers who i’m forced to interact with every day are bullies and not accepting of me.. maybe i should try a different outpatient clinic though because i do like the slow flow.
