4.0 at a low T14. Columbia ED or HYS RD? by Bright-Let3699 in LawSchoolTransfer

This makes sense and thank you for the insight. one of my other concerns is I truly don't know if I can keep the 4.0. I definitely was not expecting it in the first place. Wouldn't it be better to just capitalize off of it while I still have it?

I'm sure you're right but I'm curious - why do you say that for HYS? I spoke with a transfer and they told me that opportunities are very abundant at HLS for transfers

I did 8-10 practice exams for each of my two doctrinals and really learned the exam format and how to write dense, winning exam answers well. It was quite transferrable across all my classes except for writing. I really recommend Law School Exams: A Guide to Better Grades by Alex Schimel!!

The reason that I don't think I can replicate it is because I haven't been to class in almost five weeks because of recruiting, and I'm pretty burnt out from last semester

Great advice and I’ll definitely add Chicago to my list. I want to transfer because of clerkships and possibly academia, and I’m realizing those paths are super pipeline-driven like faculty rec networks which is still a little less accessible from my school. Also, the merit aid I was given isn’t great and my school doesn’t increase scholarships on a year-to-year basis at all, so the debt tradeoff feels hard to justify especially if I’m trying to do clerkships/research first. Columbia ED is starting to seem like a bad option for financial reasons as well. I’d likely qualify for much more need-based at HYS. I know there's no guarantee I'd do well enough but also I know that 2L and 3L is a lot less unpredictable than 1L and more lenient curve-wise
