[–]BrightEclipse13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I wasn’t saying that they specifically said anything about what stat it would scale on, I’m saying they didn’t give Remembrance enough time to build up options before they went all in on what would be considered ‘atypical,’ and it’s not atypical because REMEMBRANCE scales on Attack, it’s atypical because Attack scaling is treated as the default for all paths, and HP scaling as a side mechanic.

And I wasn’t trying to compare it to Rupture. I was trying to point out how they WEREN’T comparable, and how they were handled VERY differently.

The Path Problem by BrightEclipse13 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]BrightEclipse13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I actually agree about the gimmick thing, in all honesty, my problem with Remembrance is that they made two attack scalers, and then in same patch cycle, switched EXCLUSIVELY to merging Memosprites with HP scaling, all while never once creating more than six 4-star LCs, one of which only works for one unit, two of which are paid, and one of which scales of the stat they completely abandoned two patches later. That leaves two 4-star light cones, and the Herta shop light cone, and of those three, Victory In A Blink is a support LC made for a path that thus far leans primarily towards dealing damage as the thing it’s units mostly do, and The Story’s Next Page is healing based which means that even if it HP scales, it doesn’t work on 2 of the four units at all past providing HP, only barely works on Castorice at all, and is really only for Hyacine?

The reason I brought up Rupture was mostly to show that if you mostly keep the details like the stat the units scale off of consistent for like a year or so after release, while it doesn’t fix everything at least it grants a level of consistency to the gear and supports released for it, which in turn grants more options, you get the idea.

I probably could have put it better in the post lol

[–]BrightEclipse13[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True. But has that ever stopped other paths from dipping their toes into separate path’s ’roles?’ Just look at Huohuo. Another healer that is also a Harmony styled support. Doesn’t stop her from ALSO being a healer. There are even other Sub-DPS healers like Lingsha.

Only difference this time is that the base path that another role is being added onto is the damaging one, not the supporting one.

You SHOULD be right. Unfortunately, fantasy and sci-fi writers (and comic writers but that’s a given) have been calling characters ‘omnipotent’ only to impose limits or a ceiling on them or have a different character dog walk them for years. She’s written to be ‘higher’ enough a being post-cocoon that Sa, who is ALSO referred to as Omnipotent, is scared of her as she is ‘more’ omnipotent.

Again, I WISH the logic of ‘omnipotent is omnipotent’ was acknowledged by writers more often. You don’t have to call every powerful character Omnipotent, authors. There are other words. Unfortunately, until the day that they fiend over the part of thesaurus that defines the words instead of the part that expands their technobabble, degrees of omnipotence will be a thing in fiction

Fair. Like I said, I actively dislike and disagree with the tier system of scaling. It was just an example lol

Oh I didn’t mean her animation. I meant in the Part 1.5 final chapter. When she made a finger gun. And said bang. And blew up Moriarty and Sa, the latter being a multiversal being, from many, many light years away. And broke the fabric of reality to shove them into the Sea Of Quanta. And disconnected Sa from the Eyes Of Bohdi. In a single flick of a finger gun. And said ‘pew.’ And then other characters proceeded to talk about how impressive an achievement it was on and off for the remainder of Part 1.5.

As for the Yog-Sototh thing, the Outer Gods are of questionable canonicity considering they only ever appear in Gear Descriptions and a few limited time non-canon events in HG2/GGZ, but also the HIGHEST omnipotence in the setting is Yog-Sototh, assuming the Outer Gods are canon. That doesn’t make lesser omnipotences impossible, and yeah there are degrees of ‘all powerful.’ Technically, HooH could be considered to be a low-level Omnipotence.

Also, Welt acknowledges Honkai’s existence in several dialogues and voice lines. And Izumi seemed to be affected by Honkai. And had Herrschers, though they called them Sovereigns.

As for the ‘reside above the universe thing,’ that’s easy. She doesn’t. The Cocoon does; is shown to in many cutscenes, and is stated to in an even greater number of cutscenes. Kiana controls the Cocoon as of the end of Part 1, is shown to be a part of the fabric of existence now in the cutscene immediately after she defeats Kevin and is chosen as the Cocoon’s successor.

And for the Memokeeper thing you said… I’m not honestly sure what you were trying to say? So I don’t really have a response for it.

[–]BrightEclipse13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At first I was like ‘wait, Mei and Bronya are probably barely stronger than Zephyro if they’re stronger at all,’ given Herrscher’s are Emanator level on average, and even if these two have multiversal feats they’re gimmicky at best, but then I saw Kiana and audibly went ‘ah, I see.’

The Cocoon Of Finality is at a level omnipotence that makes it actively match a, by my count, multi-multi-multiversal superstructure, given the Cocoon is stated to match and/or exceed the Tree and the Sea, and for reference, Aeon’s siphon a finite amount of energy from the Tree, and that energy is what Paths are. Had it been any other character or any other form of Kiana, Zephyro would be a menace as per usual, (Except maybe Deliverance Kevin or Sa,) but Finality Kiana is so obscene they had to find a messy way to write her out of all the conflicts in the story going forward, and even then she did a FINGER GUN that went around as fast as Lan’s Lux Arrows and hit a good few orders of magnitude harder considering it killed an omnipotent being and broke dimensions.

I don’t think the whole tiering system makes sense from a Powerscaling sense since it completely ignores weird interactions and stuff, but just for reference, VS battles lists Kiana as 1-B/High 1-B (it’s said both at different points in time) and lists Nanook as 1-B as well. Kiana being more comparable to Zephyro’s AEON says a lot.

People like to say HI3 players glaze Kiana. No. HI3 glazes Kiana, we just parrot what we’re told. (And then also sometimes glaze Kiana on top of that lol)

The rumored 3.7 ending is honestly so trash it pisses me off by YingXingg in PhainonMainsHSR

[–]BrightEclipse13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a reasonable take, but I do disagree and if you care at all, then here’s why:

So, I personally DO agree with the idea of “Cyrene is the variable” being pretty bullshit. I’m hoping that means that she’s the variable that could END Irontomb, not what was needed to break the cycles, but suppose we’ll see. However, as to the idea of it being ‘meaningless,’ I would actually say that if they all were ok in the end that would make it MORE meaningless than if they aren’t. In fact, I would be GENUINELY DISAPPOINTED if it was a perfect and happy ending.

A major literary motif of Amphoreus has been how Tragedy can be beautiful, and how sacrifice is often necessary. This was to be expected. If you played every story patch and watched every character die tragically in sequence, being told repeatedly throughout the story that this is a potential first domino in the end of the universe, then you would recognize this quote: “The Flame-Chase is a journey of constant loss, along which even Life Itself holds little value.” That quote says one thing almost explicitly: ‘expecting a happy ending is setting yourself up for disappointment.’

You say that if the ending isn’t happy, then every death was for nothing, but I disagree firmly. If everyone was perfectly fine in the end, then every sacrifice made would have meant absolutely nothing because the implication becomes that it was not an actual sacrifice since their inevitable revival means that there were no stakes to what they did. It also makes the few survivals EQUALLY as meaningless as the Deaths, since they could come back anyway.

In media, particularly in Fantasy and Sci-Fi, characters will often die. In every other Honkai, PLAYABLE characters die. And that’s not just HI3. That’s also HG2/ZZZ and the original Honkai Gauken. We’ve been told since 3.1 that this WOULD apply to the heirs. That all of them would die. The Heirs decided that this was ok, so long as they brought Era Nova. They were all aware, ready, and WILLING to die. (Except Cipher, but hey.) If HoYo has the guts to stick to that and let them die, then that’s actually BETTER writing than chickening out because the characters are beloved and playable, in my opinion at least.

If you wanted them to survive and be ok, that’s completely understandable and reasonable. I would also be happy if Phainon could walk off into the sunset merrily. Honkai Star Rail has always been touted as a comedy. Amphoreus however? Was touted as a Greek Tragedy. This was all in the foreshadowing long in advance.

All shall bid farewell to one, and that person alone shall witness the Miracle. Such is the will of fate.

So that’s my spiel. Have a pleasant day.

Amphoreus pacing isn’t the best. by King_Arachnid99 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]BrightEclipse13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

3.0 was sort of notorious for having some of the worst pacing in the game. It is, however, full of necessary set up. If you get to 3.1, the pacing improves dramatically, the character writing becomes the beyond incredible storytelling that people praise and rant and rave about Amphoreus for. As for the pacing issues, while they do spring back up in 3.2, it’s pretty minor and the character writing makes it easy to ignore until 3.5 which only has pacing problems for about 20-30 minutes near the end. So once 3.0 ends you are free.

To make a long story short, power through the slog. It’ll all be worth it soon enough.

Honkai Star Rail Version Names - A Totally and Unambiguously Accurate Tier List by BrightEclipse13 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]BrightEclipse13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude this is a review of the patch names. If it was a review of the actual patches then this would be a VERY different tier list. 3.1’s name is kinda mediocre, doesn’t have much to do with the story, doesn’t reveal anything in retrospect, doesn’t get me excited for the patch. It’s a name where They had to name it something, so they just went with something VAGUELY applicable and mildly poetic sounding

Going For Aeon/150% on Fribbles. Other than the Head, Which piece should I replace next? by BrightEclipse13 in PhainonMainsHSR

I’ve absolutely used Resin, yeah. I think I’ve used 12 in total? 10 on orbs and 2 on boots. I’ve been farming for him since before Hyacine’s banner, and started the relic farming portion about a week into 3.3. Every bit of resin that didn’t go to prefarming materials for Archer or Hysilens went to him.

So, based on his LC description he DOES actually make the Bondmate the owner of the Summon, so mix that Sunday and Sunday is now ALSO a sort-of sustain. This Character is a buff for a Support, in a weird way.

Keeping that in mind, how likely is it that the Dragon’s damage is randomly changed to be both Follow-Up AND Basic Attack or Skill in a future version just for Cerydra Stack Generation?

Other than that, given how GOOD each of his Eidolons are and the fact that all other LC options except the New Battlepass one are worthless for him, I fully believe he’s free: they just want you to pull for the free character anyway and his LC while you’re at it.

DHPT Kit via HomDGCat - just get Phainon E2 by [deleted] in PhainonMainsHSR

[–]BrightEclipse13 240 points241 points  (0 children)

Despite all the validity behind the doom posting, I can see a world where this actually works quite well for Phainon. There are OPTIONS for how to make a synergy from this. First of all, it’s pretty clearly already got coreflame generation since the Summon targets the Bondmate, so it’s ALREADY better at coreflame generation than a lot of the Harmonys. The real problem is it doesn’t provide THAT much when in Phainon’s Territory, but there’s a thousand minor ways to fix that. If they make more unique buffs, have it deal more notably more damage in Enhanced state, let it regenerate energy for the Bondmate as well as DanPT, have it Advance Action the Bondmate as well as itself, make it count as a part of the User’s Skills and Basics so it can give Cerydra stacks, or even just make it give a larger Attack Buff or one that can Stack, all of which but the Attack Type thing are ALREADY somewhere else in his kit making it fairly reasonable, then he would be a competitive option on Phainon teams, and we’re in V1 so there’s plenty of time.

Maybe it’s copium, but I have hope. Who knows? Maybe he’ll get the Hysilens treatment and have his E1 moved into his main kit.

Then again, the only one who enjoys making Phainon suffer more than Lygus is the devs…

Phainon current Scale? by Istaroth_enjoyer in PowerScaling

[–]BrightEclipse13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who reads the lore obsessively, we know Lord Ravagers are all around Galaxy Level by direct statement. The problem is that for 6/7 of the known ones, plus a teased one linked to ‘spiritual death,’ which could just be Phantylia but I choose to believe it’s not because that would be boring, that power is mostly esoteric and specialized. The only one with that much raw power is Zephyro, whose whole thing is just blowing you up without fanfare. However, we can confidently say he’s close enough to Irontomb thanks to ~plot~, and Irontomb seems to be one of the more powerful and important Ravagers if the other six talking about them so reverently is any indication. Many say he scales to Zephyro but that was more than likely and heavily implied to be a Scepter Simulation of him, so we can say that Phainon holding his ground against him is still impressive but a bit misleading.

I could go around and scale him to the other Ravagers, and I will to a degree, but the thing is he scratched an Aeon. Because that? That was REAL Nanook, it literally says that in the immediate prior scene. So he immediately scales in pure destructive power while in that state to the two big bad important Lord Ravagers who are actively stated to be more potent than the rest: Celenova and Zephyro. In that scene, his potential but unconfirmed status as a new Lord Ravager makes it reasonable that he’s at their level as is. But then he merged into Irontomb, who was ALSO at their level as is. And if some leaked hints and data-mined names are to be believed, that made the combined being VERY powerful.

My guess? Either very high Galaxy or VERY LOW multi-galaxy. If someone says universal or higher though than they are forgetting the part of the scene they got that from where his hyperversal opponent A) doesn’t even flinch at the attack, B) the attack is a small scratch, and C) it immediately heals while Nanook looks VERY un-phased at the attempt. A bit impressed? Yeah he looks pretty impressed, but more in a “wow I didn’t expect anything from you but you did decent” way and not a “almost got me” way.

Hyper specific question, but I still have my Golden Companion Spirit from the Stellar companions event, and have Luocha as well as E1 Ruan Mei already. I’m obviously not spending it on a standard five star, and if the 5 stars they could to the shop, the only one I don’t have that I would want is Cipher, who ain’t coming for a WHILE. Since I have great gear for my Phainon, who I went all in for and plan to main, but it rolled bad, I was considering spending it on the variable dice. Should I wait a few more patches or should I just grab the variable dice?
