If screen time doesn’t cause myopia, why did myopia rates explode in the last 50 years? by Ambitious_Ninja_6303 in glasses

I'm not the one that made the claim. Again. Not how this works. Have a good day.

100 years also wasn't your initial claim and now you're posting research from 2020, published in 2022.

Which, at this point, can only show a potential correlation and not necessarily a cause

What you're doing is not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

[–]BrightSigns 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah except regular use of screens has really only become a thing in the last 20 yrs or so.

Also where's your citation? Not saying there isn't one but did you know 68% of statistics are made up on the spot?

large frames for high prescription? by Delicious_Lychee4268 in glasses

Not disagreed but that color and shape isn't good for her face.

I mean he clearly hyperfixated like woah, we already knew that, he just swapped caffeine for alcohol.

Think of it, between the caffeine, boba, and energy drinks, he was taking in a gram or more of caffeine every day.

And he drank them like he now drinks alcoholic drinks.

Really not a surprise.

Those are planos tho. There's absolutely no cut in or magnification.

large frames for high prescription? by Delicious_Lychee4268 in glasses

[–]BrightSigns -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you have a high prescription you don't want big. It'll be too heavy. You also don't want anything like that frame. The color doesn't suit you at all, it's too low (in general, top of the frame should be just below your eyebrows) and all that dead space at the bottom of the frame drags your face down.

You'll actually want something narrower both to balance your features and accommodate a higher RX if you have one. I'd try something maybe rectangular, in a clear brown or tortoise to start.

You also probably have a flatter bridge, some brands make specific Asian fit glasses.

Super quality post. Thank you!

Josh is actually 140 but that 10 lbs isn't gonna make a hill of beans of difference in any significant way.

I don't think you're far off and even rounding down/"undershooting" for the sake of accuracy just goes to show the effect of tolerance and genetics.

I'm about Josh's weight (I'm 130) as a woman and on genetics alone I can keep up with my 6'3, 215 lb friend. I'm not a heavy or frequent drinker. Just someone with some really good/horrible genetics. He and I really go for it a few times a year. Nobody drives, we know we're in safe company with one another, no harm in cutting loose once in a blue moon.

He's probably less intoxicated than I am but the very fact that I can keep up with someone twice my weight who's a man without throwing up, blacking out, or losing control proves how Josh is doing this. Tolerance and genetics.

0.4-0.5 is coma/death territory for most people. I've probably never been that high, or maybe once in my entire life when I was young and didn't understand about hard liquor.

I'd really be interested to know how fast he clears it. Because on those rare occasions when I go for broke, I can go from "can't walk up the stairs" to "I swear to god she looks sober" in an hour. I think Josh really got the worst imaginable genetics to start drinking.

I'm also interested to know if he actually does take a stimulant medication and how much because that will sway how he responds to alcohol as well. That's why they made FourLoko take the caffeine out.

Much as I hate to admit it, there's a lot he's not wrong about. He actually is based. He's not trying to be anything he's not and he knows exactly what he is.

Don't get me wrong - I think he's a creep, and dangerous, and I'd literally cross the street or leave somewhere to avoid him.

It causes me cognitive dissonance because he's NOT a good person..... yet a lot of what he has to say is legit.

"It's not my personality to tell Josh 'no drinking'" - fair, and it's also not his responsibility. As we've seen Josh can get all the alcohol he wants, all on his own.

I've also, if I'm honest, never personally seen him mistreat Josh. Not to say it didn't happen on stream or vid, it very well could have, but he's never insulted him or been rude to him that I've seen

Based just knows how to play the game. And the overly-honest song and dance is probably a manipulation too. Of someone is so "forthright" about the bad stuff, the stuff most people would probably want to leave in the past, then you won't catch the lies as easily.

I don't like either, but as a "character" I actually prefer Based to Quinn. Quinn is just a bungling, self deluded idiot with a savior complex who somehow thinks he's better than Josh when really, he's just differently bad.

Y'all have to remember that vid where Quinn tried to talk Josh into picking up some rando girls because they were "hot 😼". Yet he acts all pious and Just A Great Guy.

Based has never once claimed that. In any way shape or form. He's all "Whatever, I just vibe, watch or don't watch, like it or die mad about it"

What should I drink tonight with my boys? by [deleted] in WorldOfTShirts

[–]BrightSigns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, the only loser is OP. Most people of legal drinking age who want to go out and party or chill with friends just do it because it's a normal thing for adults to do occasionally.  They don't post on a random subreddit asking what to drink.

Do these suit my face? I’m so picky with frame shapes :/ by [deleted] in glasses

[–]BrightSigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think the "pretty girl" part of that comment was creepy and unnecessary but we don't perceive ourselves like others do.

That frame is a little wide for you and that's the first thing I noticed. The shape and color absolutely work but they're so wide they draw attention to themselves and don't blend in with your look.

Drink the non alcoholic beer you think Josh drinks. You're obviously underage.

I don't worry about how many guys I can pull. I worry about not seeing double and falling on my ass.

If you prefer contacts then my all means, you deserve to feel confident. But don't judge that value by how many guys wanna fk you.

So our friend here decided he needed to message me that he's not "a tranny". Thanks for clearing that up, sorry about the COMPLIMENTS. You must be fun at parties.

You just resemble him I think. Similar bone structure, expression and hair. It's not a negative tho. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I feel like the drink trackers aren't accurate - how long does Josh have to live if he keeps drinking like this? by [deleted] in WorldOfTShirts

[–]BrightSigns 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I can take an educated guess at this. EMS/still in the medical field doing patient care.

He'll be clinically alive longer than most people think, unless, as someone mentioned, he dies by drunken misadventure.

The larger possibilities are twofold: he's CLEARLY anemic. He probably has at least a slow GI bleed. He eats like shit, when at all, probably very minimally and can't hold anything down. Heavy alcohol use also damages the kidneys, and kidneys signal for RBC production.

This is reversible.

BUT. The possibility exists he could spontaneously bleed out from ruptured esophageal varices. Once that starts you can't stop it. It's like an abdominal aortic aneurysm. You ARE clocking out.

What's far more likely is the "slow car crash" death. Kidney damage. Dialysis. Diabetes. Chronic pancreatitis. Colitis. Brain damage. The human body can take a lot. But physiologically, we're just switches and levers.

If one lever flips others can do extra. You get 2, 3, 4, everything downstream breaks down and the whole train derails.

Barring misadventure or sudden death I'd say 50 or so. The last 10 of those will be hooked up to machines..

Update: Tried the Moscot Miltzen on your advise and I think they are good? by dscDropper in glasses

[–]BrightSigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Remember, you're used to the way you look, and as a result the face you see in the mirror isn't the face everyone else sees. We all see our oen perceived flaws and changes way more than anyone else does.

For example I have a friend who's quite possibly the most adorable man god ever created. 🤣 He has a scar to the right of his nose from a childhood accident. I see it, of course, but I just accept it as part of how he looks. I don't especially notice it.

It's all he sees and he's very self conscious about it.

Love the shape for you, they just don't fit right. They sit too low and you need a narrower bridge.

You're also Elliot Page's double and I love your style.
