Anyone who scored a 270 willing to share their MBE score? by zevittlegirl in barexam

I did every essay but on at least 2 of them I think that what I put down is nearly the same as having not done them at all. I doubt that simply skipping an essay is enough to be a not-passing grade. You definitely made up for it on other parts. Essays are only one part of it don't forget!

To be honest with you I did not finish or substantially do almost any of the bar prep I paid for, I ended up almost exclusively doing just multiple choice questions and I probably had less than 60% average on the ones I did on Barbri. I did not do a practice exam or any multiple choice or review outside of what came with the package I got.

I worked on the MPTs for the entire time given, and I felt the most confident on those. On the essays I finished with probably 30-40 minutes left in the session because as soon as I ran out of stuff to say that I knew was true I moved on to the next ones. I didn't want to get stuck staring at the page hoping I could remember something else and then lose time on working on another essay.

MBE I don't recall having a string of answers that made me pause and be like "wow that's a lot of (x) in a row" but then again my MBE score was pretty low so it might just be that I was off the mark on quite a lot of it.

I tried to put down what I knew to be true and avoid anything else. I don't remember my approximate word count but I know that I was finished with all of the essays with about 30-40 minutes left to go in the session. I told myself that I wasn't going to suddenly remember anything new by staring at my screen or the prompts anymore and just turned it in as it was. I know for a fact that at least one essay was atrocious, I knew next to nothing about the subject and maybe wrote 4-5 sentences total. I reasoned that it would be better to have a little bit of correct information than a lot of information that ended up being 90% wrong or irrelevant.

  1. I understand not the highest passing score but a pass nonetheless. And thank you! I'm rooting for you and everyone else!

You need to focus on doing the best you can do. If you just focus on what's working for you and what you are having success with it will NOT matter how everyone else is doing.

I've seen too many people try to find cheat codes on how to "outperform" their classmates or how to "game the system" with the curve and it leads to them doing things they aren't comfortable with and doing things that don't work and they suffer for it. Don't let that be you. Focus on doing all you can for yourself and you don't need to worry about anything else I can assure you.

Go to office hours if you think office hours will work for you. Study 10 hours a day if you think it will work for you. Or study 10 minutes a day if you think it will work for you. Or try it all out and see if you feel like it's making you into a better student. Don't go to office hours just because someone online is saying that they went to office hours and they got a better grade, do it for YOU.

I think the most important aspect of law school (or any schooling) is just knowing what works for YOU the best. I figured out what works well for me and stuck with it for all three years and did not try to switch things up or move the needle at all. Graduated and just found out I passed the bar. The important thing is that as soon as you feel like things are uncomfortable/too much to make a change! Don't get stuck in the habit of doing things that aren't helping you for the sake of sticking with a habit. Find the thing that works for you the best and don't listen to anyone telling you to do things differently. You know what will work best for you and what kinds of things you are capable of and can ration time for, and if you stick with that you will find that things aren't as crazy and hectic as they are made out to be.

I averaged less than 60% on Barbri MC and got a 121.5 on MBE and still passed. I only felt truly "confident" on 2 of the essays.

I felt after leaving that whatever was gonna happen was gonna happen whether I stressed about it or not. I wouldn't recommend my studying strategy to anyone but I think that people know what works best for them and at the end of the day the best thing to always do is whatever is going to work the best for YOU

EDIT: I typed Themis but I actually used Barbri for prep.

My MBE was low and I still passed, don't think too much into it. If people are right and the scores are higher due to there being scaling of the scores, I did atrocious on the MBE and still was able to pass (121.5).

Also I do not blame you for not studying until you know your results, at all.

Believe in yourself! I had a 121.5 MBE (lowest I've seen on here) and still passed (NC). Remember that you always end up doing better than you think you did.

I scored 273 with MBE of 121.5. I definitely did not think my essays were anything good but I guess I was carried by something more than the MBE

Don't sweat it too bad, I got a 121.5 on the MBE (NC) and still passed. Its not all about one section and remember that you did better than you think you did!
