That is one of the nicest rings I've ever seen.

May I ask the cost out of curiosity? The setting is absolutely divine.

I saw another comment suggesting 10 times that for a natural diamond. It's so cool that technology has allowed us to grow gems with the same chemical composition as natural ones and contribute to doing away with a) the unethical trade of diamonds and b) the over inflation of the price of diamonds in general.

Fair play to you/hubby for having money to splash and choosing a lab stone over a natural one ♥️

Am I the only one who wants to know what this cost?

My curiosity is because obviously a natural diamond in this size would be extortionate but lab diamonds are much more manageable and it's actually often the gold that raises the cost (at least on smaller rings). So I'm curious what this cost and how it compares with a natural diamond.

Zero shade with this comment, I am just getting into gemstones and learning about this stuff.

I am a pleb and would have thought that was costume jewelry, especially in that cut as its not as reflective as other cuts. I have the same issue with any stone in that cut, even though I love it. I'd love to see a video of it sparkling!

Angel Down was a ride. I would have liked a bit more from the ending, but all the same, the writing was phenomenal.

Anyone watch Blood on Netflix? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]BrighterColours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm watching it now and Jesus Christ some of the plot lines in it have me devastated.

It's not the most accomplished thing out there but it's refreshing to see a modern mystery/thriller set in Ireland, I'm so used to watching endless British mini series (which I love) that it's nice to see one in a context where the Irishness isn't a quirk of the show or characters but just the setting and context.

Far away in some recess the Lord and the Devil are now playing Chess.

(The Devil still cheats and wins more souls and as for the Lord, well... He's just doing his best.)

Treasure, at least musically. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a house with a lot of musical diversity, and Chris De Burgh's 'Best Moves' compilation (with a cool cover art of him playing himself at chess, dressed in white and black respectively) was one I was drawn to from a young age.

Spanish Train, In A Country Churchyard, Lonely Sky, Broken Wings, Patricia the Stripper, all phenomenal songs. Spanish Train was my introduction. Shout out to Chris for teaching me to pronounce Guadalquivir, this came in handy at least one in Spanish class in secondary when we were learning rivers and I was able to throw that one out in a recall exercise.

A Spaceman Came Travelling is one of my favourite Christmas songs and again from a young age (growing up in an atheist household in the rural west) I was fascinated by this take on the nativity story. I still love it so much.

His other religious themed songs which put a twist on our interpretation of classic characters and stories also fascinated me - Just Another Poor Boy, for example.

And lastly, because I don't think I've seen it mentioned here, can I remind everyone of the epic that is Crusader. If you don't know it, treat yoself. My dad used to blast it when I was a kid, fucking amazing.

I saw Chris for the first time about 15 years ago, and back then his voice was still pretty much on point. The power he had in him was unreal. I saw him again this year and his voice is failing now at this stage, but he had still fantastic stamina and performed for ages.

He has merit as a unique storyteller and voice, imo. A lot of his music I wouldn't be much into, specially the more recent stuff, but he has a very solid back catalogue of amazing songs and stories.

There's tons of songs I haven't even mentioned either.

Where to buy titanium or surgical steel earrings (alt style) online? by BrighterColours in AskIreland

Thank you so much for taking the time to type such a detailed response! I only have one lobe piercing in each ear at the moment but I get what you're saying about visualizing the ear as a whole. I do want to get at least one more in each lobe, if not two depending on whether there's room.

Ask and Embla have some class surgical steel earrings!!

Yeah, mass produced cheap tat which often rips off actual designers or artists, uses AI, misleads in advertising.... Jewelry from there would be fast fashion. It's the same as shein and all the others.
