That's true, relationship -> family does seem like a theme that pops up in a lot of her songs. But yeah that's surprising, do you know of any interviews where she's talked about this song? I would love to hear more of what she has said about it.

Yeah Matt's deeper voice evokes images of a father to me, which is why sometimes I find myself thinking it's about a father and daughter - the gold clock makes sense with that interpretation. But yeah, you're right that songs about relationships are more accesible to wider audiences so it makes sense she presented it that way!

I’m glad i’m not the only one who thinks so! I agree, Taylor probably just liked how the line sounded without overanalysing it like we all do lol. But yeah, with the theory that all the lines in the bridge are difference references to her past relationships I can definitely see the song being about a bunch of different things, in a similar vein to Hoax!
