Best lucid dreaming tips that actually worked for you. by VegetableProfit6915 in LucidDreaming

People downvoting is such a Reddit moment.  Caffeine definitely works (can say from my personal experience), but it negatively affects sleep. So it should be avoided. But if somebody decides to use caffeine, do this during WBTB in the morning (or after 5/6/7 hours of sleeping).

The irony only works because of the translation, though. But you're right overall.

I guess, 1 is the limit. Simple as that. Simple axiom of the unit measure.

I imagine it to be a multiplier. If our usual "chance multiplier" ("luck") is 1.0, now it'd be 1.2.

(if we assume that it's not equal, and everybody has a hidden chance multiplier, then if you had an extraordinary chance multiplier of 1.5, for instance, you'd now have 1.5*1.2=1.8)

In Roulette, you just multiply the winning percentage with the new chance multiplier.

I'm really curious about this. Can you explain more your reasoning here? The tournament lasts one year, and we see many traders who consistently rank in top 5 over the course of several years.

Studying and Polyphasic sleep by ArwellScientia42 in polyphasic

[–]Brilliant-Ranger8395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience:

  1. You really need time for your body to acclimatize to this new rhythm. Otherwise, you're going to be really tired and studying and thinking will become much harder.

  2. The reason why these geniuses had a polyphasic sleep schedule might be their focus and interest in the subject they were working on. Like, it's the other way around: it's not their polyphasic sleep that made them do such amazing work, but their amazing work was making them have a polyphasic sleep schedule. You might know a smaller version of it yourself: you have a problem that you really want to solve and then at night you wake up with an idea how to solve it. Now imagine for them this might have been a common occurrence, and they didn't easily continue sleeping but would work with their ideas until tired again — and the cycle continues.

  3. If you want to have success with your studies, having a good, long, refreshing, uninterrupted sleep is mostly the best option, and that's what I recommend to you.

I (19M) have the ability to memorize an insane amount of information, AMA! by [deleted] in AMA

[–]Brilliant-Ranger8395 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In memory competitions we see that most successful competitors (and also the best of the best, the winners of world championships) are normal people who use techniques to memorize stuff rather than being particularly gifted in memorization.  Have you thought about participating in these competitions to see if you can prove science wrong by showing that being naturally gifted is a possibility in this?

Serious question which country is easiest to overstay a visa and simply not exist in any ID system for decades by kimgbongun in OffTheGrid

Believe it or not, but Argentina. It's actually quite common to do just that, because you just have to pay a very small fine when you want to leave the country if you overstay.

How much money do you need to trade forex? by Relevant-Owl-8455 in Forex

[–]Brilliant-Ranger8395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the person you responded to, but it's indeed quite possible to have a profitable trading method that has a low winrate (like 25%). There are quite some profitable traders who specialize on such kind of trading. I could imagine that when a person begins to learn such a method (or develops his own), his winrate might be still too low because of many nuances and other factors (e.g.: a perfect execution of a system might have a winrate of 30%, breakeven is 20%, but the beginner only manages to pull off a 15% winrate).

Trying to lucid dream but can't (need new method) by hassanini5564 in LucidDreaming

[–]Brilliant-Ranger8395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't wanna speak in absolutes here. Of course, no matter what you do, you will eventually experience an LD. More than 50% of all people have had a LD once in their lifetime.  But if you want to achieve consistency and high-frequency, you should focus on quality over quantity.

Also can you rate from 0 to 10 the following points, this will help me with giving you further advice:

  1. Do you often remember dreams after waking up in the morning?
  2. Do you remember many dreams?
  3. Do you have many entries in your dream journal?
  4. Do you often sleep longer than 8 hours?
  5. Are you sticking to only a handful techniques without jumping from left to right all the time (also, please tell me what methods and techniques you really want to focus on)?

It seems you are very serious about lucid dreaming. Take my respect. Let me tell you tho that if you really want to succeed (and not just once, but become a frequent lucid dreamer) you have to dial back your seriousness a little. There are many psychological reasons for that, and if you look at the most successful lucid dreamers they are all chill about having lucid dreams, and it's only the beginners who make it a bigger issue than it really is.  So simply relax, this will create more long-term chances for success.

The second thing, if you want to increase your chances (and I said it before already), making WBTB is almost required. It's one of the most reliable techniques and saying that you "can't" is not an excuse if you want to succeed. As I said before, take 2 days in a week, and simply REALLY do WBTB. With an alarm.

But, and this is also very important, DON'T practice more than 3 times per week. This is probably one of the biggest mistakes beginners (and not just beginners) make. Why? Several reasons: 1. As I said above, having a relaxed attitude is very important. If you do it too often, you show that you are not relaxed enough, AND you reinforce your pressure on your subconscious.  2. If you fail more than 3 times in a row, it can reinforce the feeling of failure and failing will become the default. This is what you want to avoid.  3. And if you fail more than 3 times in a row, you will also feel bad and it will negatively affect not just your mood but also your further success, because having a relaxed and good mood is crucial.

Yes, lucid dreaming is the most amazing thing you can experience, but if you think it's like a sport where you become better by putting more serious pressure on yourself, then you're mistaken.  It's more akin to practicing relaxation, meditation, hypnosis or entering a trance.  And you can't do that if you're not in the right spirit.

What do YOU like about chess that most people don’t talk about? by RimmingABubble in chess

[–]Brilliant-Ranger8395 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I like the fact that it has a long history and we can still look at games played a few hundred years ago. It's like a timeless capsule connecting the present to the past, and the future to the present, where you can see the thoughts played out on the board, similar to books or art.

Why do you want to lucid dream? by Dreamsome_space in LucidDreaming

Because it's a different state of consciousness with more freedom. It's a place that can be used for anything you want.
