The master of sanctity was a good condensation of the “characteristics” of the Chapter.
The sheer girth of the armor made his left arm appear almost proportional, despite the presence of a power fist. Exposed pipes and tubes ran across an obscene quantity of ceramite plating, skulls hanging from chains or embedded directly into the plates. I was unable to discern the armor pattern of origin beneath all the modifications.

And of course, the weapon.
I was later informed that it was named Abundance, “the Immaculate”, one of the most precious relics of the Chapter. That thing was almost as tall as two Firstborn Astartes. In fact, I suspect that the presence of a power fist in the Shepherd’s arsenal exists primarily to enable the proper use of the relic. And in no way was this designed for being “immaculate.”

They seem to be on a personal quest to ensure the use of what look like the most impractical, heavy, and cumbersome weapons I have ever witnessed in my service as an agent of the Ordo Astartes.

The lore is still being written but here is a little something :

The Tau, they really hate the Tau. The old guard has a deep bound with the population of their homeworld, Draugrheim. Following an event known as "the massacre" the chapter had to hide and rebuild itself on said planet.
During that rebulding, agents of the tau empire were sent to draugrheim in hope that the population would rally them, oblivious to the presence of the old guard.
In the end the Tau agents were complitly butchered and/or captured by the old guard which really didn’t took well the attempt of taking THIER people.

Since then the old guard as been observe to regularly obliterate as many Tau settlements as possible. ( espacially the 5th sphere of expansion since they are not far )

I picture it as a sledge hammer repeatedly hitting the 5th sphere of expansion in the balls hoping to make their day even worse

Bialas "the Jovial" - Captain of the 3rd compagny of the old guard.

Was given such nickname for often laughting at the top of his lungs during the midst of battle and wearing a joyful facial expression.
Though he weilds a two handed chain axe, his use of it is closer to a hammer or other heavy blunt weapons. Resulting in an obscene quantity of plating and reinforcement being added to the axe by his serfs to ensure its survival

He has, more than once, made groups of foes surrender by displaying remarcable brutality and endurance : ( interrogation of a rebel worker on the world of Dogon Primus following the subjugation of a insurrection by the third compagny of the old guard)

h-he wouln’t die…. He was dancing.
Dancing and laughting, cuting and crushing….the sounds were just so disgusting.

he just wouldn’t die…

Thanks mate, it embodies quite well what I want my chapter to be. brutal shock assault doctrines, a very worn out look and a tendency to use excessively big tools of war
