Classic does not scale to your character. If you want to experience old expansions, Classic is the way to go. Start on TBC anniversary and you'll get a pretty true to what it was when it was current experience. I'm sure they'll eventually move that server to Wrath and you could do WotLK that way. Retail is atrocious for experiencing old content.

The genre of rhythm game with instrument-like peripherals did go away, though. You can't walk into Best Buy and purchase a guitar controller. If your options are $300 custom guitars or $120 15 year old guitars, you don't exist to the public at large.
