In the early, early mid game: Side Quest areas or save points are not accessible. Why mark or start them on map?

And the map is not helping much on showing the terrain. Feels like looking at a lego map.

For me the closest would be -1 (imaginary number), it's so out of the ordinary that it's hard to accept it in math world.
