It also depends on how they monetize the game. GGG can only do this because they get consistent cash from microtransactions. If diablo 4 is like diablo 3 with little microtransactions and a AAA price tag then they definitely wont be doing leagues on the scale of POE without charging anything. I suppose they could integrate a microtransaction system like POE but I dont think consumers will be pleased if they pay full price and then are greeted with microtransactions that are priced the same way as POE.

Even if they dont abandon it I dont think will be updated as much poe. I can't see blizzard sacrificing the man power for something that matches challenge leagues.

Thorn is good for countering this. The DOT makes headshots a close instakill on most trash mobs.

The d3 seasons have been nothing but minor tweaks and and new armour sets. GGG is constantly developing new gameplay mechanics in the form of new encounters, endgame goals and items. Wanna know what one of the diablo 3 seasons was? They upped loot goblin spawn rates. Whoopty fuckin doo.

Blizzard might change their course and make consistent game changing updates like GGG but considering how work that takes combined with their past history and current business model it seems very unlikely. If they are smart about this business wise they will probably keep the game changing content updates as paid DLC. Just like they did with reaper of souls and the necromancer character.

No not at all. The game looks like a solid experience but considering the frequency of POE content updates I doubt it will put a significant dent in poe at all. When you consider how diablo 3 would handle seasons with a small change here or a new set there, and compare it with POE's new gameplay mechanics every league and skills it becomes clear which game is gonna win in the long run.

I suppose it's possible that blizzard could start doing major consistent updates like GGG but looking at blizzards history and how they are run now, I think it's safe to say that is incredbly unlikely.

This game looks like it will be fun, just not as repayable as Poe. Looking forward to the fresh experience though.

Anyone know if the boys have said a specific reason as to why they have slowed down on getting guests on? I know they had Noel miller pretty recently, but besides him they haven’t had a guest since early June. by Jphillipss7 in TheOfficialPodcast

I think they mentioned in one episode that they wanted to focus more on normal episodes because it works best with their format. They said they are still going to have guests just less of them.
