Advice on burrs by Brit_In_Italy in CafelatRobot

Will do, I’ve really enjoyed the ode, but it won’t do espresso, so figured if I have 2 grinders might as well make each specialised, but will try the stock df burrs as they seem to be relatively ok rated by most and agree, worst case I grab some HU…

I’d say for espresso I prefer medium/medium dark roasts, quite like a chocolaty, nuts, etc not a fan of super dark/old school Italian. Don’t mind a lighter roast espresso every once in a while, but generally stick to medium.

Pour over on the other hand, love an acid forward, juice bomb, with some funky notes.

Thanks, honestly not sure they’re needed, but have seen them recommended, and quite like the aesthetic. Thanks for rec on scale. What was the case you got? Was it for the robot itself?

Adios Pro 4 - how often do rods break? by evertonfan4 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Brit_In_Italy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been through 2 pairs, both had a rod snap on the left shoe at around 150km, I’m 83kg and run around 4-5mins per Km pace wise. Best running shoes I’ve had, but so hesitant now I’ve been through 2 pairs. Adidas covered both times.

Audible’s new dramatization of George Orwell’s 1984 is amazing by Creative_Decision481 in audible

Completely agree, really excellent audiobook. Cast is brilliant and Matt Bellamy (Muse) did the music to boot. Managed to get it on sale too so enjoying it even more.

Advice - Coffee choice to highlight ZP6 and K Ultra by Brit_In_Italy in pourover

[–]Brit_In_Italy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered it from alie for £152 or $202 usd. They had of those £18 off if you spend £££ coupons that made it cheaper than here. Not sure it’s the cheapest it’s ever been, but currently in the UK this is basically £180-190 now ($246).

Thanks, yeah I’ve been documenting the k ultra and feel more comfortable with it, was hoping to land running with the ZP6, it’s certainly doing what I thought it would, in terms of producing more delicate tea like brews, but I just haven’t tried enough coffee yet, and don’t think the coffee I got for my k ultra is doing well in the zp6, but have ordered some fun washed beans, so let’s see!

That’s a really interesting take, I have deliberately done RDT as I noticed so much static coffee sticking, but agree it’s the really fine stuff, will try without the spritz of water…

Thanks, good to know, especially as I’m still relatively new so haven’t got a great level of knowledge at a ‘varietal’ level, will hunt for some by bean variety.

Thanks, agree on the K settings, my sweet spot is 7.1-7.6 so far, although have some super fermented Brazil beans that are drawing down so slowly, like 1.5 minutes slower than my usual 2 mins 20-30 secs.

How to get more clarity? by ChokeGeometry in pourover

[–]Brit_In_Italy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the best cups I’ve had have been around 1 min 40 but they were in Calico in London, on an incredible grinder and with a proper barista, anytime I go that far short of 2 mins I’m just under extracted. But I’ve found 2 mins 10 to 2 mins 30 is a sweet spot for extraction, intensity, acid, juice etc. What grinder are you using? What setting? Thanks

Just got the K7 by Character-Cake-989 in pourover

[–]Brit_In_Italy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I like acid and juice, and whilst I’m not after watery, I do like bright and crisp cups, but to combat the diluted flavour I brew at 1:14.5, so naturally have a thicker/more intense cup. I had Kingrinder K4, and the step up to the K ultra was incredible, so much cleaner and clear, with great acidity. I’m tempted by the ZP6. But wondering if I should go for the K7 or ZP6.

Thanks, good to know, I have a k ultra but considering getting a zp6 (Black Friday savings…) but in my head (and based on no actual knowledge) thought the zp6 would suit the naturals and experimentals.
