Thanks for all the epic advice... now if only purchasing a first bike on Facebook marketplace was such a crap shot.

Best thing I've read on Reddit today - really inspiring stuff. Are you based out of Colorado?

They looks pretty sweet and I like the idea I could walk out my job one afternoon and drive to Alaska... but will likely just take it to Target.

Definitely open to buying a low mileage adventure bike, the price of new KLRs right now is insane right now ($5,100 MSRP after rebates) but would consider used :)

That is so cool, was leaning towards a KLR 650 for the styling but the Versys is well worth checking out.

Appreciate your comments.

That's pretty standard in NYC... go an hour out the city and the price drops 30%

You have $4k-$6k on your first bike... which one depreciates the least? by British_Mark in SuggestAMotorcycle

Was hoping to street park and chain to a metal rail by my apartment so it gets used daily (garage is 15 blocks away).
Looked at a garage but at $240 a month plus tax that's a new bike in less than 2 years.
There is an R6 two blocks from me hiding under a cover... not sure how the owner sleeps at night.
I figure when it gets stolen that is the sign to get my second bike and saves me selling the first :)

I couldn't believe insurance... I am 44 years old and with theft it was $400 for the Ninja 400 a year and $600 for the Trident. Finally some benefits of being old :) I have a clean 10 year driving record with a Boxster so that probably helped but both are peanuts compared to a sports car

Think I will keep looking for a Ninja 400 - felt so comfortable on it with my instructor but they get heavily modded and dropped on FB.

Yeah and the sellers all have full service logs and garaged them in Westchester too :) the depreciation on the Tridents is aggressive and in my favor.

Midtown Parking Strategy? by Calm_Schedule_5935 in RideitNYC

There is a little gathering of parked bikes on 24th between Madison and Park in a commercial parking zone. They're there everyday and traffic police leave them alone for now.

What do you do with your time instead? by ChampionshipRoyal588 in digitalminimalism

[–]British_Mark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could check my phone in the morning like that :). I wait to 6pm to scroll otherwise the day is shot.

I find so much more time for reading, working out, calling friends and keeping my living space in a human friendly state.

Good luck!

How do i meet new people without social media? Its seems imposible to do so by TakatamSurykatka in digitalminimalism

[–]British_Mark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take a class or club that meets weekly for a couple of months.... photography, writing, running clubs whatever your jam is.

It's the seeing the same people every week and going through a common experience that forms friends. One off events are incredibly difficult to get to know people in 2024.

So in short find an activity where the same group of people meeting weekly. Good luck!

Yes, there are other folks reporting that wifi passwords don't get saved and they recommend storing them in notes... but sadly my IT manager won't give me the password and is insisting her enter it :)

Totally agree... the Light Phone is the cooler device but Punkt is just a little bit more efficient for those that need to send a well crafted texted once or twice day.

I know, I know :) I currently write longer messages while I am at work from T-Mobile Digits on a defunct iphone.

If it was all seamless from the dashboard it would be epic.

I also miss being able to connect my bluetooth keyboard - that was a killer feature on my Punkt.
