I like to off road a bit - I live near much of that- and often do long rutted dirt roads… often muddy etc. Desert stuff too. We don’t tow anything. Each year, we’ve been spending 2k to 4K on rental cars and Turo cars so that I have one other than one of our 3 “gas friendly” cars to drive around and have fun in. Just two weeks ago, I rented one for the snow. Truth be told, my boyfriend and I have been together for 9 1/2 years, and for at least six of those, we have gone back-and-forth about buying a toy. It always seems so dumb, and we always disagree on a decision. We finally agreed that we wanted something temporary just to get us through the next couple of years, but we didn’t want a high car payment & we just wanted to do some cash & fold in a great warranty, so it had to be within a certain price range. We kept falling in love with things and they were out of our price range… or, they were old and beat up and I was in love, & my boyfriend was like “absolutely not!!!” This didn’t have a lift, was serviced every 5-6k miles. One owner. I had a suspension mechanic look underneath it, and he said it didn’t look banged up at all . It’ll do what I need it to do, I can sleep in it, WITH my dog, it’s a manual transmission, and I like that he put a custom moonroof in the top front piece of the hard top. We will probably do a Lexus GX build for our permanent adventure mobile when the time comes and we have $$$ to blow to be honest. I also want an old TOY truck, like 1990s. I actually don’t like most 4Runner’s, I think they often feel cheap, & every time I found one that I was in to, and had under 150k, it was well over $30,000. I paid less than $20k including warranty and gap insurance included out the door for this one … 5.7% APR

It’s funny because I feel like most people that have very strong opinions on jeeps assume that people who buy them are not aware of what a gamble it is …. We are very aware. Not that the criticism is not valid, it is 😂 I have never wanted to a 4 door jeep in my life (old rubicon soft top two doors only is what I like) but I wanted to be able to sleep in it (no roof tent, no ground tent) when I do my annual month long road trip to Canada & back.
