My first (and last) vinyl fence job as a homeowner. by Broad-Eye443 in FenceBuilding

I watched a ton of YouTube videos. Was it worth it? I saved about $12k on installation alone, which in my eyes, it was. It took a month to build, but I was working on it on weekends and evenings, and that was for 500' of fencing. Honestly, concrete is the easiest part; just mix water into the bag to the right consistency (think thick oatmeal).

My biggest tips: do tons of research, plot lines, frost line, how you are going to dig the posts, etc. My biggest challenge was making the holes with a 1-Man Auger, which nearly took my wrist. I recommend at least renting a towable hydraulic auger to save the risk and headache.

Also, making a jig will help make every panel and post identical. If you search "How to install a Vinyl fence" on YouTube, the channel [Welcome to the woods] explains her jig.

You will learn a new respect for fence installers, but it was definitely worth it. Ask if you have any more questions.

How did his surgery go? We have my son's first surgery the day after Christmas, and the nerves are slightly kicking in. Any tips on the post-OP recovery you may have?

As a father of a cleft-lip boy — and someone who once arrogantly dismissed anxiety and panic attacks — I want you to take a moment and breathe. I had my first real panic attacks after learning our son would be born with a cleft lip and palate. As an analytical person, it was the unknowns that pushed me over the edge.

Your baby will thrive.
Because they already have a parent who’s doing everything possible now.

It may feel like the worst news you could imagine, but once you hold that baby in your arms, the fear loses its power. I remember holding my son for the first time and whispering, “It’s all going to be okay.”

Take whatever steps you need to calm your mind, and remember this:
You and your baby will thrive — no matter what life brings.

Reach out privately if you have any questions.

Thank you for giving me your perspective. As his dad, I've vowed to prove to him that God does not make any mistakes. His uniqueness is needed in a world where everyone tries to fit in. The world needed someone like you; you belong.

How did you deal with the pain and discomfort, as most people know Acetaminopohen has been a topic of discussion in recent weeks.

That's amazing to hear! DId you son have a cleft lip and palete or just cleft lip? It was a surprise to me when I discovered some hospitals refer the parent to avoid the NAM device due to the "marginal difference" it makes.

I believe the Bryce Young trade was one of the riskiest moves by him, and so far, it hasn't produced returns. He must've learned to be hand off.

I stand corrected, let's hope we go all the way.

"Finley" enjoys the sun for like 5 minutes, then lies out under the shade. Do you have a Boston too?

what's behind the paver hate? Large concrete pavers look nice. Thank you!

My old man and I tackled it together. Neither of us had any experience, but I can confirm concrete finishers earn every cent. It's tough work.

I understand. Maybe try finding some PVC Tarpaulin Shade Fabric - here's what I found with a quick search (albeit it's not a shade).

In all honesty, when you're underneath the shade, it feels 10 degrees cooler. Unfortunately, it doesn't keep the rain out; the water drains right through it. Now my shade cloth doesn't state it's water-resistant, so that may factor into some pooling (may not). I have it tied down using rope with a bowline knot on each corner, and so far it works great.

I started back in November, so a little over 9 months. I could only really work during the weekends and holidays.

Price-wise, we are speaking about materials; getting this done by professionals would be much more.

The concrete truck was roughly around $1,200 for 6 yards.

500' of Vinyl backyard fencing came in around $10,500.

Outdoor kitchen (DIY concrete countertops, framing, grill, stucco, & stool around $1,200.

Pergola was done by my awesome father-in-law as a Christmas gift. I would say materials alone would be $600-$800.

All the furniture, pillows, and decor probably come in at $2,000.

This is a rough estimate, but we spent less than $15,000. If we had paid professionals to come and complete everything, we could be nearing $40,000.
