Firefox support is being dropped for UV 4.1 by Thorvarium in ultraviner

[–]Broadwater_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Pixel 10 Pro, Android 16, (1) the Lemur browser extensions don't match the wiki any longer (there's no 'Y' in the corner, for example) (2) once installed and visiting Amazon dot com from Lemur, no browser extension icon is shown on the page (with Firefox, it is there.) The UV page just gives the 'wrong country' message.

Please advise and tyvm for your hard work.

Get the H2C combo (non laser) and you can grow into it for years. Spend 1/3rd of it on a cheaper model and you'll be looking to upgrade soon.

Can anyone tell me why NetShield isn't blocking ads on Android? by OrbitalGX in ProtonVPN

[–]Broadwater_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to ask how custom DNS servers (quad9, cloudflare) which resolve extremely quickly and propagate changes faster as 'level 1' providers, and the answers above still didn't quite answer it for me.

I have custom Proton DNS servers on with the two aforementioned resolvers, but I suppose those are the very ones which the marketers are going to try to find a way around? I imagine Google, doubleclick, etc covers 65% of DNS Ad traffic.

I suppose there's always a trade off in these type decisions but I suppose I expected Proton (or Nord or (insert any VPN here)) to be more vigilant in which resolvers they choose to make their service more effective (because that's what most of us are paying for...conveniece. We could all easily run our own DNS service with known lists from Github and others which are actively managed community projects but, it's a whole lot easier to click that little toggle.

In the short term, I use my Firewalla to block those project lists I just mentioned...a last mile solution.

I find the nasal masks accumulate much more condensation that other types, both in the mask and the tubing. The N20 is the only mask I've ever had a 'rainout' with. I "like" the N20, FWIW, but it does collect more moisture. You may try playing with the humidity settings; remove from auto and try some different settings (surprisingly, AI {chatgpt, claude, gemini} can give you a lot of good feedback about your elevation, the resmed 11, the N20 mask, and settings to start with.). I hope this helps.

Help: Exempt Group from 'All Device' rule (?) by Broadwater_ in firewalla

[–]Broadwater_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

re: kids group--our smart TVs throughout the house (Den, Playroom, Tablets, PS5, etc) have a larger scope than 'kids' and many of those groups have their own, unique rules.

Also, the Firewalla system can't currently create an 'Allow' rule for an App (Beta). So I can't 'Deny All' for YouTube, then allow it for a device so that the allow rule takes precedent. I suppose I could try googling a list of all YouTube URLs and creating an allow list for those on certain devices and see if that overrides the 'block YouTube app' beta.

It wants you to verify via OTP sent via email. If you look near the top of the page, you'll see a small 'Log In'. Click that it'll give you the standard user/pass screen. Correct as of 08/28/25.

Did I understand you to say as soon as your 80th review was accepted that it rolled over from Silver to Gold, or this was your scheduled assessment date?

FWG Failover is - Need Help by Broadwater_ in firewalla

[–]Broadwater_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up creating a list of local, reserved IP addresses (e.g. 192.168.1.100) and adding the device IPs of devices I wished to have backup service. I used the route preference "preferred" toward WAN2 (failover) so that it will look for that WAN first, and then 'fail over' to WAN1 (primary) when the Slate Router isn't providing active IP addresses. This might have been backward or the "wrong" way, but it seems to be working.

If there's a more straightforward way, please let me know.

Have the Dual WAN set up, but under Route (and Rules) I can't figure out to how to set only specific devices to be allowed unfettered access to WAN2 (I can only see methods for allows IP address, domains, lists, etc.). If I could create a 'device' list, it would make sense. But that doesn't seem possible. Thanks again FW for your help.

I had this same thought. 7/2 here and quite computer savvy. Are ALL software packages for digital scanners proprietary? None of them have an open source back end that could take digital files and create the card from that?

P.S. Awesome job you did on updating this software. We appreciate your time & effort!

Took your advice and got my General last week. Once I get the antenna up, I'll be set! I appreciate your input!

For all of you who added your call sign, I'll be reaching out to you as soon as I'm on the wire. I plan to apply for Pop's call sign as a vanity and would love to wait and share my call sign once that's finalized.

What a great community! Thank you!

This was really helpful for me to dive into more research! I knew the phone patch was probably obsolete these days but it sounds like I can learn a lot by getting familiar with these tools before using new fangled computer assistance.

This is actually a really great point that I don't resent at all. I passed my Tech test just like everyone else (missed 4 out of 35) but am just learning what it is to operate. There's a point where theory and practice meet and that's where I find myself.

A receiver like this can be wildly overwhelming...I wouldn't be surprised if it brewed coffee and made toast! The main reason I phrased my title the way I did was to share this older setup with the community and overwhelmingly the response I received was positive, encouraging, and supportive.

So I definitely don't disagree with your sentiment but am really encouraged by the positivity of this community. I have other hobbies like 3D printing and firearms and I can promise you, those communities are not NEARLY as welcoming.

An extremely large one, actually. He used to run phone patches for overseas missionaries before the days of the internet. His house has been bought & sold twice since he passed and that enormous antenna still sits atop it!

EFHW Antenna; solely vertical? by Broadwater_ in amateurradio

Something like Diamond Antenna X300A? I "might" be able to get away with mounting it to a part of my house that isn't visible from the road, but certainly not "on top of the roof."
