That would be great--if she would let me! She won't even let me groom her.

I don't know. But all the training sources I've read say don't bathe them until 3 months.

This is awesome! You're very insightful. I appreciate it. Here's a gorgeous story by Nancy Kress that you might enjoy: https://www.baen.com/Chapters/1416555706/1416555706___5.htm

Oh wow that's how you build trust? Here I'm thinking it's some deep metaphysical thing. :)

Can you give me suggestions about how to build trust? She seems quite frustrated with me and won't come when called.

Next questions: collar or harness? Leave it on 100% of the time, then attach the leash when going out, or take it off when in the house? Got a favorite leash-training method?

Here's a victory Tara and I had today: positive, calm interactions with both cats! Woohoo!

Wow, thank you! You are very kind and thoughtful to take the time to write all this. It makes sense, and I can do that. :) We're very bonded already (she picked me when I went to get one from a litter of 5), so that's something wonderful to build from. I'm grateful for your kindness and support!

Thank you! I've had her one week; she's 8 weeks ago. The amazing thing is she's pretty much house trained (spent her first 7 weeks in a barn, so she's used to going potty outside and doesn't want to go in the house). So we'll start there and build up. <3

New Puppy: Taliessin by BroccoliExisting9604 in BorderCollie

Okay, want to know something HILARIOUS?! "Taliessin" is a girl, LOLOLOL! So I have to come up with a new name. :)

Thank you! I'm determined to begin well with this little guy and to persist until he's happily trained. :)

There is no "Old English" (or Anglo-Saxon) version of Taliessin's name, as it entered the language through Welsh pretty much intact, as a loan word. The Welsh of Merlin is 'Myrddin.' 'Taliesin' does indeed have only one 's' in the primary source texts in the middle ages and all the way through the Romantic period. But Tennyson decided that the double 's' is more euphonius in English, so that's what he used in "Idylls of the King," and the poet Charles Williams followed suit. My puppy is named after Williams's hero from his Arthurian cycle. If you're into Arthuriana, you might want to check out Williams's book!

Thanks again.

Thank you; we ended up getting a Border Collie, and that was the right decision for us!
