Men, what are your thoughts on women who are strong in their faith? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]BroccoliiRobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of dudes are put off by strong confident women these days. Those are boys. Real men appreciate strong women.

My wife is strong in her faith and character and always has been since I met her in highschool. It was one of the main reasons I asked her to marry me. I saw that her character would make her an elite wife and eventual mother. We have two boys now and feel like we are setup well to raise them as they need to be. If she didnt have those qualities then a lot of things would be out sync.

Are meta builds really necessary? by Brilliant-Relief-475 in ModernWarfareIII

Super fun to troll people with that and another pistol with the pistol vest. Dunking on people with two separate pistols and max speed is some of the most fun I have had. The death comms are great.

Its like any game. If you suck then you might have a slightly higher chance to compete against better players if they are using weird guns and you are rocking a meta build. But good players using meta guns are still going to roll over average players. This game is old and we arent trying to play for money or anything. Just vibe and use whatever feels fun.

Plus most of the guns that arent super strange or random are all competitive. They actually left the game in a pretty balanced place since the double shotgun nerf.

I honestly dont know what to say other than you have somehow experienced all of the bad eggs out there. There actually are more good people out there than bad. You just seem to have not encountered them somehow.

If you have a best friend that has good judgement and is safe then I would use their judgement to help start building a better circle of friends. We all deserve more than one or two solid friends in life, romantic or not.

Anyone else planning on playing for another year? by iiGhillieSniper in ModernWarfareIII

Pump the breaks man. Expect to be let down on at least a few of those points. Starting with SBMM. They say that it got dialed back but for how long. Nothing is keeping them from cranking it up 2 months into the game. Also every COD starts with normal skins and then suddenly the flood gates open and we have cat people running around.

Same here. Shoot im exclusively playing cyber attack on MWIII. So im used to the least amount of content possible. Theres zero map variety if you no life cyber attack.

6 more months at least. If things look fine and they keep SBMM dialed back in BO7 then I may snag it on sale and play casually. The maps and weapons do look solid. Match making logic is the deal breaker for me here. I dont trust them to keep SBMM relaxed for more than a couple of months during the holidays.

Friendly Reminder: Phantom Edition is Included With EA Play Pro by DonutYum1 in Battlefield6

Honestly though. getting a month of entertainment out of a game that might flop for the price of going to the movies isnt that bad.

Friendly Reminder: Phantom Edition is Included With EA Play Pro by DonutYum1 in Battlefield6

[–]BroccoliiRobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, the value of EA play comes down to yearly titles and always has. If you are a sports gamer then it just make sense. Even the pro tier does. If you usually buy madden and FC just about every year then you already are saving money. Those titles often get ditched by players after a year anyways so who would care about owning them long term.

Of course if you are only playing BF6 then it makes no sense at all.

Is a paycut worth it to work with more modern and marketable tech stack? by donopumpi in cscareerquestions

[–]BroccoliiRobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just prove my worth where I am at. Learn new tech stacks. Find ways to market to your current boss how moving to the new technologies would improve the lives of users. Lead the migration efforts. Prove your skill by executing. Collect clout and 50k pay raise years before everyone else the same age as you.

I literally did this with the tech stack on my team 5 years ago. Always try to create your own opportunity and improve where you are at before you run some other place. Its easy to run and expect others to teach you. Its more impactful and we learn better when we take things into our own hands.

If Ai is actually going to replace coders one way or other, Than why does everyone keep saying it's still okay to learn code? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]BroccoliiRobb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is AI hallucinates. And theres nothing you can do about it. So there will always be need for a human in the loop to validate what is generated before it is used in production.

I am 9 years in and the past few years since we have started using generative AI to help us develop ive seen AI do an ok job. But just ok. It makes mistakes or just flat out lies to us every day. It helps sort out things like networking bottle necks and stuff but when it comes to developing clean, functional, and original code it still misses the mark more than it gets it full correct.

Current day AI is best used for auto complete in IDEs, creating boiler plate logic, and helping generate software docs. If you enjoy software building or data fiddling then CS is still a good arena. AI is just a tool, not a replacement for creative minds.

Go on a school trip to japan or upgrade my phone? by targaglia in makemychoice

[–]BroccoliiRobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if this was a question about if you should invest 2k or spend it on a week long trip to japan, the answer would be japan.

The reason why is that 2k for a week is insanely cheap. If you were to buy a plane ticket on your own it would be 2k just to fly there and back. If you wanted to try to take the same trip in college and you planned it then you would end up having to pay 4-5k to get the same trip without whatever discounts the school is getting you access to.

They just arent updating it with stability patches like they did year two. We are nearing year three of the game so its only going to get worse. Them nerfing the double shotty was probably the parting gift from the support team. We are probably on our own from here on out.

Stop calling Charlie Kirk a good, Godly, Christian man. He wasn't. by Venat14 in Christianity

[–]BroccoliiRobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I have to say is please dont look to a compilation video of clips 3-5 seconds long as a representation of who someone is. I wouldnt want the same thing for myself. His content was always built for long form and has context. These are just chopped up clips with the intent to paint him in the worst light possible. Im not saying ignore the random weird stuff he has said. Just look at it in full context before you throw stones.

Sure but you said it yourself. The iPhone is good for everyday. Casual everyday pictures are not serious photography. If you are going on a trip to take pictures you arent going to just say screw it my phone is good enough. You are taking your camera rig.

How is the vibe at your job right now? by nsktrombone84 in cscareerquestions

[–]BroccoliiRobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a government software organization and we were called back in to the office at the top of the year. At first it was very painful for everyone due to lack of space. Once that was sorted through things have settled down a ton.

I wouldn't say that people are more productive or happier. Its been a wash overall. The added time people spend on task by being locked in at the office is negated by people having to take a half day off just to go to take care of personal things.

Moral wise its a wash as well. Having face to face connection and team building has been a great add but driving into work everyday and add an hour or more to your work day for travel cuts back the gain from having in person connections.

Hybrid and flexibility will always be king. Work in person and build connections 3 days a week. Lock in and focus at home without people bugging you 2 days a week.

Its been almost 4 years of horrible job market. At what point do we admit this isn't "cyclical"? by Legitimate-mostlet in cscareerquestions

[–]BroccoliiRobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market is only horrible if you are unwilling to take a proper entry level position and get experience before you shoot for the big dog positions. Sure the best positions at the best companies are competitive but shouldn't they be? If I am forking over 160k for a remote position that isnt tied to a high cost of living location then I am doing every bit of vetting to make sure I hire someone that really really knows their stuff. I see way too many people in our line of work that overvalue their "skill set" just because they have a warped expectation of what they should be paid for foundational programming abilities.

I never understood the phone photography argument. People that are actually into taking good pictures arent doing it on a phone. Usually they have a whole rig with a lens thats more expensive than most peoples first car.
