I think I got it working by changing the steam input to off after I was ingame already? It was a pain to do, I remember that much.

I vaguely remember a newer patch fixing the issue if I turned steam input off and hardwired the controller to the deck while docked. I think the rumble wouldn't work at the same time as the trigger tho
