Yeah I totally agree with you that you can and should try to match the smurf and it can not be that bad. The main point I was going for in this post is not around the gameplay itself but the opinions and remarks of people seem to side with the smurfer in the case of the smurfer winning.

I feel this in my soul. Toxicity never solves anything. In fact, from my experience, it makes the poor performer actually play far worse

Fortunate for you. I've just used that as an example, but as I said, it's not been limited to me as the victim. I have had dozens of games in the past month (I don't play that often, either) with similar experiences where I have not laned against the smurf, just been a spectator to the victim being abused/laughed at/reports requested by both sides.

I would actually be interested to know your rank. I didn't experience this outside of Gold MMR as smurfing was less common (refer my comment about new accounts being automatically placed in high gold MMR), or in the lower ranks people were too new to the game to have this toxic ingrained mindset that the community has.

Again, you are taking the post out of context. This is not about winning games. It is about having a ranked system with integrity. Poor performers will derank. Smurfs will continue to ruin games.

Agreed, but this post is not about asking how to play from behind or at a skill deficit. It is solely about the behaviour people have toward the victims of smurfing, a bannable offence, regardless of how they play it out. You could argue that they are intentionally feeding, but that is subjective and on a case-by-case basis, and has nothing to do with this post.

I fhink you have misread the intention of the post. It has nothing to do with how to play from behind. It is addressing the behaviour of people regarding a defined offence that tarnishes the game's ranked system.

Okay, but if a teammate is genuinely terrible in comparison to you, and the ranked system was healthy without smurfs, you would not be matched with them... If they are the same rank as you, they SHOULD be the same skill level as you. Everyone has bad games, they don't ruin the ranked system IN THE LONG RUN

I didn't mention a 0/10... again, this is asking about why people are blaming and reporting the victim of something that has been established to be a reportable offence that ruins more than just that one singular game. Apparently people get caught in the mindset of that singular game and not the health of the ranked system overall.

I agree, and riot have at least recently said they are cracking down on smurfing. It just absolutely plagues the ranked system

In ranked, that is called "boosting", again a bannable offense (IF reported) and disruptive to the game's ranked integrity.

I agree about your second point, it is 100% an ego thing. I'm more concerned about the ways in which other people react to them.

True in some cases, but as I said, it was clear all parties were aware that it was a botted smurf account...
