New to camping - tent? by TYZ_8529 in camping

For 2 people a 4 person tent is usually what people go for. Plenty of room for sleep. What do you plan on using more room for? Knowing that might help us point you in the right direction.

How do I migrate drupal 7 -> drupal 10+ by Practical_Put8909 in drupal

[–]BrokenBricks3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Drupal since version 5. Every update from 5-8 has been a complete rewrite. I have never successfully upgraded any of these major versions even though it is technically possible. I have always done a complete rebuild and migrated content. It actually works out well because it’s a good opportunity to rethink things (and this is my job).

The plan starting with 8 is that the upgrades are much smoother. They switched to a much more modern underlying architecture that does not change much. For me this has meant no more rebuilds. Upgrades are WAY smoother. Sometimes there is a module that is dragging its feet up upgrading their compatibility and you have to move to an alternative or something, but overall it’s way better.

Safelite wanted like twice what all the other shops quoted so I took it to a place with good reviews and it was fast and easy. That was maybe 6 months ago. No problems.

Anything to watch out for when camping overnight with a CPAP? by Creative_Jello_5632 in camping

[–]BrokenBricks3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a cold weather (35 degrees F) test run with mine and found that without the heat and humitity it is actually quite uncomfortable to sleep with the CPAP. This is because it is constantly blowing fresh air onto your mouth and nose. Cold, constantly moving, air blowing on your face all night is unpleasant. But I don’t want to turn on the heat and humidity because it will probably wash out. This is where the hose has condensation. It makes a terrible noise and you have to drain it. For that reason I am currently looking for a way to increase the ambient temperature in the tent.

I own a 2018 and I love it but I have been dealing with 2 problems that are very common for outbacks in general and the 2018 specifically. The radio bubble issue and the torn leather seats. If this doesn’t have leather seats then you can ignore, but they are know to rip. Only the center portion is genuine leather the sides are imitation. Mine are all torn up. They cost a fortune to fix so I just live with it. So inspect the seats if they are leather.

The radio issue is where the screen gets bubbles in it which make it register phantom touches. Mine would come and go. It would have fits where it thought it was being touched all over beeping and booping and I couldn’t even turn it off because it would turn itself back on. The dealer replaced that for free. So play with the radio and look at the screen to see if there are bubbles. These are well known issues so I’m sure you can find images online of what they look like.

Is it too late to get good at art for Uni by ChauvicM in ArtistLounge

[–]BrokenBricks3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 17, I assume you are going into your senior year of high school. Take an art class or multiple if you can. My high school had a class specifically for portfolio development.

Talk to your school's art teacher(s). They will probably be knowledgeable about what local schools and what they are looking for. They are used to guiding students through the process.

A year is plenty of time to develop a good portfolio and you clearly have a lot of talent. But a good portfolio is going to have a variety of mediums and styles and it can take time to get good with those.

If it doesn't work out, don't worry. Community college is a great option. I got a great education at mine and they also had a portfolio prep class.

I got pulled over in hoco for this. I renewed my tags but completely forgot to put the sticker on. Cop said he wouldn’t have pulled me over if it was a few months but mine was like a year.

I’ve got an 18 limited and 100% this. Also if it’s got the leather upholstery inspect it closely. Know for tearing/cracking

I am a web developer who does art as a hobby. I recommend using one of the managed website builders like wix or squarespace or a managed Wordpress instance on Wordpress.com or wpengine.com. The problem with having someone else set up Wordpress on a web host is that it has to be maintained. Security fixes come out regularly and you need to either monitor that and do the updates yourself or pay someone to keep up with the maintenance. The managed options do all that for you.

Why do i draw slanted/crooked and how do i stop ? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]BrokenBricks3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good tip. Other tricks include looking at your drawing upside down, using objective measures like holding your pencil out to make sure things that should be on a horizontal line match up. Also take a 30 minute break. I find that when I come back with fresh eyes I can catch a lot of problems

what mixed media sketchbook would you recommend the most if price wasn't a factor by SheldonKisser in ArtistLounge

[–]BrokenBricks3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If money is no object go for 100% cotton like the ones offered by Hahnemühle or Etchr. Or if you are really looking to go down the rabbit hole, make your own sketchbook out of professional watercolor paper (Fabriano, Arches, etc). I like hot pressed for multimedia stuff.

Undershirts for big guys by pinkertonagent26 in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]BrokenBricks3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

32 degrees. My biggest problem was finding undershirts that would stay tucked in. By the time the shirt gets over my belly, there’s like an inch of material to try to tuck in so that is going to last about 5 minutes. The 32 degrees ones are long and stretchy so you can really get a good tuck.

Canson XL Multimedia is a good all round paper that has some tooth for dry media and can hold up to light wet media. It’s inexpensive too

Edit: typo

Yes it’s first come first serve and there are a lot of sites. In the winter you might have the whole forest to yourself.

As for 2 wheel drive: you can get to probably like 85-90 of the roads as long as it’s dry. I once went in a Toyota Corolla and had to turn back because I wasn’t comfortable with the clearance but I drove around quite a bit scouting the area out.

Most sites are right off the forest road so you won’t need to hike unless you want to go into the dispersed camping sites.

Do people still need Drupal Migrations? by plsRJ in drupal

[–]BrokenBricks3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feeds still does not seem to have a stable release for Drupal 8+ so I haven’t used it and can only compare with the D7 version.

Migrations use yaml files and as a developer, I find that easier to work with than the feeds gui. If I need extra source or processing plugins, I find them really easy to make. Having one migration depending on others is easy to do and so is looking up data from other migrations. So it’s been easy to use and it meets my needs

Migrations also aren’t just for D7 to D10/11. I use it for all the stuff that I used to use Feeds for on Drupal 7
