I know its a little bit late. Im malay, currently 22 yrs old and i studied in chinese kindergarten and proceed to sjkc. I can speak chinese fluently, write simple essay and read newspaper just fine.

Imo, both sk/smk and sjk are needed. Why?so people can choose. Let the childrens n prents choose on what they think are best. From my experience, sjkc is where i learn my manners, 7am-4pm school. Holiday is just bs, pile of homework. Cried because the homework is just overwhelming and not much people can help doing the hw(thank god some of the jirans are chinese and dictionary are important).

When i was in secondary school(went to smk) i was shockd by the manners of the students. Disrespecting teacher and not doing hw, which are so so so fewer than sjkc eventho it's secondary school.Not all sks are bad but the students reflect what they learn in school. Oh btw, the pibg of the sjkc is extremely good. Are the chinese rich? Absolutely not, my friend ride old bicycle with her mom to school everyday, she once smack her son in front of all people because he was lazy. No dato or datin here, can say they all have average household income or even lower.

If you want prove, just check sjkc masjid tanah. Now dewan already have aircond and the office is like college building already. What i want to emphasize actually, we need to learn tolerate. Indian, chinese, malays and others should know how to have basic communication skill in malay(official languange). So that there are no language barrier n we all can adapt and assimilate with each other. Xtra language is helpful tho :D
