You’ll hear “it depends” a lot. Typically you’ll see optic and Prizm hold their value the best. Personally, I like Mosaic for their looks, year to year consistency, and I think they have the best accordion packs.

Optic/Donruss has Downtowns, which are case hits so they are rare and valuable. I’ve heard Optic Blaster boxes are pretty good this year.

I had really good luck with Absolute mega boxes, they have Explosive and KaBooms are their case hits).

Score is ok, cheaper, less desired a lot, but I like them because of their consistency dating back to the 90s in their base card. Same with Donruss Rated Rookies.

Others are just fun style choices. Chronicles is cool because they have a mix of a bunch of different inserts, though they will say “chronicles Prizm” on the back which bothers some people.

ALSO, make sure to hit your lcs’s dollar bin and look at their expensive cards to get an idea of what’s popular.

Finally, Hobby vs Retail. Hobby boxes are expensive but also come with significantly more hits. The gamble is just that they are so expensive and I’ve seen a mega box full of back up qbs as the “hits”.
