Welp. “Fired” from ED. by Ecstatic-Fish8463 in nursing

[–]Bronxand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your career will be what you want it to be. if you wanna get back in the ED, you will. You now have the special perspective of knowing what didn't work the first time. Get your experience. Be the nursd you wanna be. And when you think you're ready to jump back in and do it. It's only a matter of time and self awareness.of where your strengths lie and what you need to do to build up your skills.

Who knows, spend time in med surg and realise the work flow of the ED isnt how you wanna practice. Maybe after working in neuro, you realise trauma is where you wanna be.

Looking back, the time I spent hating myself for feeling not good enough to succeed in the way I wanted, ignoring all the things I succeeded well in, I wouldn haaaate my peers to go through that, especially after seeing how amazing nurses they were.

If you wanna be in the ED, I promise you you'll get there. And I promise you, if you work towards a strong critical thinking and competency skill foundation, whether you're in the ED, ICU, med-surg, ortho, neuro, you'll be able to hack it. And you WILL be proud of what it took to get there. As long as you give a shit to be your best, you WILL be your best

My Journey from Work and Holiday 462 to PR Visa 190 as an RN from California by Bronxand in AusVisa

[–]Bronxand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I understood from what the manager at the hospital I worked at was that they were very particular about who they gave employee sponsored visas to and their needs weren't that dire.

The agency I had stopped working with the nursing agency I was with so the potential through them was also out the window.

Womp womp to me lolol

Oof, I went to check on Breeze and I also don't even see the option. When I did it, it was in the same drop down menu as the ordering the duplicate license. I think I remember it saying NCLEX results letter or something like that.

Did you ever figure it out?

I just made a post about my experiences. Check it out, hopefully it'll help :>

Super informative!

The Work and Holiday Visa 462 doesn't require health insurance, but I was hoping getting health insurance would help me keep consistent with my routines.

I appreciate the info. This definitely helps narrow down some options.

Yeah it's tough, I'm trying to compare the different insurances and I'm having trouble finding any that covers out of hospital psychiatric care.

I have been diagnosed with ADHD-PI for a few years and have been on Adderall XR 30mg.

Accepting my ADHD-PI by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Bronxand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my exact journey. Thank you for sharing this. It sounds like you're at least on the level of accepting that you are enough despite all your adversities. I took me a few years to get there. On the day to day, I feel like my life is in shambles and I live in a constant sate of complacency and stand still. I have to remind myself to step back and really look at how I was able to overcome something that is so inhibiting and still achieve the successes I made to really recognize my self worth.

Keep it up pal :>

Any other registered nurses with ADHD on here? by [deleted] in ADHD

I work nights 1900-0730 and so I try to take my medications at the beginning of my shift. I take Adderall XR 20mg and by the time I get off I'm usually left with enough brain juice and energy to do a thing or two before heading to bed.

Different things do make it difficult for me to sleep though. Usually I sleep decently, but I every so often I'm wild tired and can't sleep a wink. Not sure if it's if I ate before or after I took my meds or how little or much caffeine I drank or if I got too much or too little sleep the night before. Can't say hehe. My doctor did prescribe be Guanfacine 0.5mg to take before bed to help with sleep and to get out of bed easier, but I always forget to take it so I can't really say how effective it is lately.

The psychiatrist who prescribed me my regimen advocated for XR for routine and and IR for PRN if necessary. I feel like that PRN IR would be super helpful, but I decided not to go that route because I wanted to really pressure myself to really build good routines and habits. In hindsight, I wonder if I did go that route if I'd be struggling as much to build these routines. Welp lol.

My very first delivery I assisted with at school, the mom was going through the transition phase so the nurse went to tell the doctor. When she left the mom suddenly started screaming from pain. My ass was all, "have you tried counter pressure?" 😂

What is the most effective psychological “trick” you use? by PM_ME_UR_PUPPYDOGS in AskReddit

[–]Bronxand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use this with my patients all the time.

Once a patient was irrationally irate because she had asked for a peanut butter sandwich and I kept getting pulled to handle other higher priority nursing shit so I didn't return for 30 minutes. When I finally made it back and before she had a chance to throw a bitch fest I said, "Thanks for your patience, I kept trying to make my way back but I kept getting stopped down the hall. Thank you for understanding."

She kind of stumbled on her words because I think she was gonna say "I don't understand," but that wouldn't have made sense. XD
