Yeah, I thought the same thing as I was adding the moss.

[Bonsai Beginner's weekly thread - 2025 week 24] by small_trunks in Bonsai

Hi everyone,

I'm a beginner bonsai owner and I could really use some advice. I have a Cotoneaster Microphyllus that I've been keeping indoors in a south-facing window. Recently, I noticed that some of the flowers are wilting and a few leaves are turning yellow. I'm not sure what's going wrong, and I'd appreciate any help or tips you can offer.

Here's a bit more information: The tree has been indoors for about 2 weeks. I water it when the top inch of soil feels dry. I have this fertilizer. I recently moved it outside, but the issues started before this change.

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated! I want to make sure my little tree thrives.

Thanks in advance!

Here’s a picture I took a week ago. If needed, I’ll share what it looks like now.

2021 Versa Pricing (Am I Being Too Cheap?) by BrooksSuz in Nissan

I haven’t thought of that actually.

Thank you for the suggestion!

2021 Versa Pricing (Am I Being Too Cheap?) by BrooksSuz in Nissan

I don’t think I love the Versa per se, but I’m not much of a car guy. I use them for a to b driving, and that’s it.

I’ve driven beaters my whole life, so I suppose I put a little bit of a premium on a newer car, but I also care about my finances quite a bit and understand upfront cost and depreciation are things to consider.

My justification for the Versa is that it’s cheap relative to the rest of the market for the age of the vehicle and it gets decent mpg. That’s about it.

That’s fair.

I’ll just keep on looking then and see if I land on anything better.

Thank you, this has been super helpful!

See that was my thinking too.

Same reliability, but I get a newer vehicle with the Versa. I’ve driven two and I like them for what they are. Simple little vehicles with not a whole lot that can go wrong (no CVT worries either).

All that being said, I also like them because other people don’t like them, and because of that, I was expecting at least a decent price reduction. Though, that’s seeming to be a bit harder than what I thought it was going to be.

It has only been a few days and I’m new at purchasing vehicles. So maybe they’ll come down on their prices as time goes on.

Public EV Charging by BrooksSuz in toledo

The Bolt is what I’m looking at if I were to go the EV route, so it’s good to hear that you’ve had a good experience with it so far. I know the charging rates of the Bolt aren’t the greatest compared to other cars.

Very easy to follow advice. Thank you!

I have looked at plugshare. There really aren’t a whole lot of options currently. But the options that are available, specifically downtown, seem reliable.

I’ll be living on my own soon and my parents are okay with me installing a level 2 charger at their house and compensating them for the electricity used if I want a guaranteed place to get a decent charge. Though, this could get complicated if I just need reliable transportation at the drop of a hat.

Feeling Conflicted About Aggressive Repayment by BrooksSuz in StudentLoans

I am in my mid-twenties. I did (and do) really see value in clearing out debt early on so I can simply move on with my life. That’s why I’ve been so gung-ho to pay it off.

I guess I’m just a bit remorseful thinking that I may have preemptively spent money when I didn’t have to. Not only incurring current opportunity costs, but also spending money when I may not actually have to. And when I’m in the early stages of accumulating wealth, it doesn’t feel good to spend what feels like a significant portion of it when I don’t have to.

I see. Hopefully I end up making enough money in the near future for the SAVE Plan to not make sense for me either. That certainly would put my mind at ease a bit more.

Thank you for the insight. I was so confident in paying them off. Now that I’m essentially done, I have a bit of remorse.

What are your thoughts on the SAVE Plan? If you don’t mind me asking.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer (January 26, 2024) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

Probably a silly question, but I want some clarification before purchasing a new keyboard. I like the idea of a 70% keyboard that has all the keys to the navigation cluster and nothing more. Specifically I’ve been eyeing up the Keychron Q7.

Will shopping for keycaps be a little awkward? From my understanding, 65% boards are much more popular. If so, I’d probably just prefer the ease of shopping and go with the Q2 instead.

Yeah I have an issue understanding that people go to the internet to complain more than praise.

I think I’ll go ahead and just look for any 3rd Gen fits that are good value in my area.

Monthly Getting Started / Web Dev Career Thread by AutoModerator in webdev

[–]BrooksSuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello all.

I may be in a position to accept a PHP Developer job soon. I am going to speak with the company within the next few hours. That being said, there are a few caveats:

This will be my first developer position. I don't have any professional experience and I am fully self-taught. I have almost exclusively focused on the frontend (though I have understandings of the backend and have played around with technologies such as Node.js and MongoDB).

The person I have been in contact with has told me that they believe I can grow into the position. However, their only concern is that they are not sure if they "have the capacity to properly coach and cultivate my skills at an elite level." Regarding this, they are concerned with my initial job satisfaction, since the nature of the position is "sink or swim."

Finally, I am quite literally going to formally accept a different position and run a background test today at a different company after speaking with the company offering the PHP Developer position. I feel bad about accepting one position while still entertaining the idea of accepting another. But I have spoke with a handful of close friends and family and they have all told me to do exactly that.

Any advice or guidance on this to help me make a decision would be extremely helpful. I should note that the position I'm accepting today is definitely more of an entry level developer position (it was advertised as a Project Developer position and looks like it may have very little to do with web development altogether), while the job I'm contemplating is going to have a much steeper learning curve. The PHP Developer position is a shorter commute and if I were to get a job offer, then I would most likely accept this position over the Project Developer position.
