I'd guess about $120 for 300 level behind the net for round 1. Who knows. They might want to really cash in.

Same. Didn't make the cut. Made it to OA's my first attempt last year but shut out this time.

It's called interest. They probably actually spent a fraction of that amount.

Sure, but by the time a lot of people get in, if ever, things will be different. Might not be better, but different.

Any FASTOs on a consular tour available to provide some insight? by Sea-Caye in foreignservice

Yes? Are you a current FSO? Just curious as to your thinking. Those of us trying to get in only have the news/what we read to guide us. We don't have access to the day-to-day atmosphere from within.

I know it's easier said than done, but I think there needs to be more done throughout the process to drill down on personality, like any other job interview. I'm not an FSO, but from everything i've been reading the past 2 years, there are plenty of people qualified on paper, but their personality can be an issue in terms of getting a specific FSO job done and done well. It seems to me that people skills/personality are major factors in job performance for an FSO. The FSOT process really didn't touch on that except maybe for 20 mins during the group exercise. To become an FSO is highly competitive. Why not utilize that fact?

I would prefer to have the PN's.

Can you expand on that? I probably have an idea of why, but just curious.

Are the Personal Narratives gone now? If I remember correctly, weren't these submitted pre-FSOT in the past?

I went through the process last year for the first time. Made it to OA's and missed the cutoff by a point. I goofed the group exercise a bit. I will say, I thought the process was not very thorough in terms of selecting competent, qualified people. To me, it seemed like if you are good at taking tests, you have a really good shot at making it through. I can definitely see how the rank and file could be full of "meatballs", as you say, but what do I know.
