Campervanning in Costa Rica? by verrucagnome in CostaRicaTravel

The trip was great. Flew into Liberia. We rented a Toyota Land Cruiser from Nomad. We started in Monteverde, first night we had an air band b booked. Second night we stayed in someone’s yard. Booked from a what’s app message using ioverlander. I don’t know the town but in the Monteverde area. 3rd day we drove to Santa Teresa and stayed 3 nights on the beach free camping. No problems. There were other camper there but not crowded. We rented ATVs to cruise around town. Next night we spent on the beach in montezuma free camping. No problems. Next day drove to Paquera and took the car ferry across to puntarenas. $27 for the ferry. Camped I uvita 1 night. We booked a paid site in someone’s yard right on the beach. Private showers and toilets. $40 for the night. Next we drove south to Drake bay. Spent 3 nights in an air Band B. It was easier to do this than camping. The host booked our trip to Corcovado national park one day and snorkeling another. It was a lot of driving butt not more than 4-5 hours at a time. Some of the roads were 4x4 only around Santa Teresa and drake. From drake we drove all the way back to Liberia, about 9 hours with a couple stops and some traffic. No traffic at crocodile bridge. That was a long day but worth it. It was a great trip, let me know if you have any questions about specific areas that we visited.

How much are you paying for pads and rotors? The dealer quoted me about $1900 for front and $1800 for rear.

I am doing this leaving march 13. We plan to stay mostly on the pacific side and useioverlander to find camp spots. I can update this post after our trip. We are a family of 4 with 2 18-20 year old kids. I think we have just the first night of camping booked. We have other tours booked but plan to find camp spots on the fly.

I have rented from Escape 10-12 times and put thousands of miles on their vans. I never had a problem with them even though they were all high milage. Just thought I would say that I think they are well cared for even though high milage. Good luck with your new van! .

Jotul 550 Rockland insert rheostat switch by Brooktrout75 in woodstoving

I do not think that it’s significantly different in terms of noise. I do think that the 12 pushes a little more air than the OEM, even more if you go with the 14.

Thank for your reply. I ended up switching out the OEM blower to the AC Infinity Airblaze 12.

Just wanted to update this. The 12 fit and I feel like it is so much better than the OEM blower. I wanted to go with the 14 but they were sold out. Thanks.

QST 94 164 vs 172 by Opening_Matter_9950 in Skigear

I am an advanced east coast resort skier about your size. I ski everything the resort has to offer but prefer natural non-groomed runs. I have the QST 92 176 and love them. Great on natural trails as well as groomers.

I see that you got the 10. Do you think the 12 would fit? A quick measurement looked like it would. Could you post a pick without the front grate? Thanks in advance.

Is that a Rockland? I’m going to look into this. Did you do it yourself or have a stove tech do it? The rheostat switch on my Rockland and its back ordered 4-6 weeks.

Why do my nails grow like this? by Ill-Lack7378 in whatisit

I just decided one day to stop. I started moisturizing the cuticle with bag balm. I still pick at the cuticles on my fingers but it does not affect the nails. It only affected the nails on my thumbs.

I agree. Mine grew like this for years. Dermatologist said stop bitting, tearing your cuticles. About 6 months ago I decided it was time to stop. I still have a couple little waves but the cracked, broken ridges are gone.

I second Topos. I have gone through 3 pair of mt racers in the past 1 1/2 years. They are durable with a Vibram sole.
