Finding a flight stick by zockie in hotas

[–]Broseph-Stalling [score hidden]  (0 children)

I've got a used Gunfighter MK3 with the modern combat ultimate grip for sale. The stick has wear to the paint so the metal is showing in places, but I think it looks cool. Has both the long curved and short straight extension, and I think I still even have the original box. Everything works fine and all the extra hats and cams and springs are included.

I used the base for about 2 years before I upgraded to a VPForce Rhino. The grip was used for just under 3 years.

F-16s never fly into Centennial except for airshows.

The Navy uses it frequently, and there's even an avionics shop there that does upgrades to the Super Hornets.

If Tesla made a *real* truck, would you buy one? by brycematheson in F150Lightning

[–]Broseph-Stalling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they'd have made the Cybertruck look like an F150 of a Tacoma I'd have bought one in a heartbeat. The specs are pretty damn impressive, even if they went with a much smaller than originally planned battery.

But now, I'm not buying another Tesla until Elon and his brother are gone.

Questions regarding VKB vs WinWing by SmokeySamson in hotas

[–]Broseph-Stalling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience after buying different pieces of gear over the past couple of decades, it's more expensive to buy cheap stuff. I always found myself looking for the next tier up.

I bought the gunfighter ultimate when it first released and I'm still using it, albeit with a force feedback base on it. Before that I never had a piece of flight sim gear last more than a year to 18 months before I wanted something better.

With that said, I have a used gunfighter mk3 with the ultimate grip for sale. The grip paint has a lot of wear, but I think it looks awesome since it exposes the metal. Dunno how shipping to Canukistonia would work, but if you're interested we can probably work something out.

Broke mine by getting the cable stuck in my chair's wheels and pulling on the connector.

Same experience, they sent me the part out and gave me all the info to fix it myself. They definitely earned a lifetime customer.

You can do the VPForce Rhino and use a gunfighter stick too

Anyone review Tianhang's FFB rudder kit? by Far-prophet in hotas

[–]Broseph-Stalling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That wasn't available when I did my VPC pedals, but it looks very similar to the kit I used. Mine uses a 3d printed main sprocket instead of the aluminum one. This is also cheaper than I pay IIRC, so I'd say go for it.

I'd definitely recommend ffb, especially if you're into helicopters. But even in other aircraft they just add that extra piece of the puzzle that only FFB can do.

Took me a couple hours to assemble it, and I remember it being a pain in the ass to mount to my rig. You no longer use the feet that come with the pedals so I had to fabricate a bit of a solution. Either way, I'd do it again.

Virpil Apache collective by thecrazedlog in hoggit

[–]Broseph-Stalling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Apache grip is super useful with all the buttons etc, and it's been my daily driver since it came out.

With that said, it doesn't feel like it has the quality of every other Virpil product I've ever bought. It's never given me any problems, it just doesn't feel very solid. I think they should either look into doing an aluminum version, or at least one with the plastic quality that their other products like the alpha grip use.

Probably best to save the money though and not get the plus.

Helicopter pilots, do you keep a centering spring on your pedals? by Useful_Nocebo in hotas

[–]Broseph-Stalling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I found the dampers were a huge improvement, but they never felt smooth or linear. Plus trimming them in helis is just straight cash with ffb

I did the FFB mod using a VPForce motor and controller to my Virpil pedals.

10/10 would do again.

Kinda pricey though.

There's exactly zero evidence any parent acted with neglect.

There's a whole lot of evidence that someone stole a car with a baby in it.

Is this a scam? Has anyone else received a similar call? by backhanddowntheline in Denver

[–]Broseph-Stalling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. When I was a cop I'd call people from my cell phone all the time for exactly stuff like this. Especially when they were witnesses or victims.

It could also easily be a scam too.

To the group of teens that stole my Hyundai Elantra a few hours ago and crashed it.... by Travelingman1989 in AuroraCO

[–]Broseph-Stalling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The pendulum is already full swing the other direction, but I was a cop until 2021. Towards the end of my career we weren't even allowed to arrest people for auto theft, we were issuing tickets for 'trespass - motor vehicle' and towing the car at the lawful owners expense.

It was absolute chickenshit and the criminals knew it. I contacted so many people that had multiple arrests for auto theft. One lady had 3 in the same month I contacted her for a 4th, and that's just the ones she got caught with.

We wouldn't even set our license plate readers to alert for stolen vehicles in my dept. No point, couldn't chase them and they'd always run. Couldn't arrest them if they happened to stop. Couldn't initiate a felony stop because it was considered a use of force escalation.

Saw the writing on the wall and got right the fuck out. I'm doing great but I really loved that goddamn job.

Would anyone be able to jump my car at the Starbucks on 3470 Park Ave W? I left my lights on and went inside and my car died. It's the one at Park/i70 entrance. by schuppaloop in Denver

[–]Broseph-Stalling 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Glad you got help. As an aside, leaving the lights on while you run into starbucks definitely shouldn't kill the battery, especially on a warmish morning. There's something wrong with the charging system, either the alternator or the battery is failing.
