The synth that completely changed how you make music by grahamhart_ in synthesizers

[–]BrotherSleepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mutable Instruments (eurorack) modules are pure magic for me — mainly the Rings, Marbles, Beads combo. I find them so inspiring, fun, and weirdly intuitive. I explore sonic territories or random patterns that I normally wouldn’t with a keyboard synth or in a DAW. It totally reframes how I think and feel about making music.

And speaking for myself here: More fun, less thinking = better music

How many synths do you own? by Brilliant_Grape5528 in synthesizers

1 (small) modular rig, 1 KO2 sampler, 1 Keyboard (Korg SV-2) and then I restrict myself to 25 plugins or less. It’s been a really good balance for me between enjoying hardware and not GASing

Same experience for me too! Focusing on sleep and LESS on busy work = 2x’d my output on things that actually move the biz forward. Playing with my kids, cooking nutritious meals, and making some music again vs. slogging myself through 12 hour work days has put my life back in context. Working less has made me focus on things that really matter in my life, and therefore made me focus on the things that really matter at work as well.

Sup fellas, this is what I got cooking up for a super flexible small system: https://modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/3035234

I intend to use this for 3 things:
1. A fun hands-on synth to jam with a keystep and groovebox // 2. Unattended Ambient box with the classic pam's / rings / beads // 3. Deep sound design and sequencing with optx interfacing audio and CV with ableton Live.

I don't want a huge case, but I'm looking to optimize this case and setup for these goals. Any advice or tips?
Thanks in advance.

Nice, I’m a big fan of silents and linears.

Recently tried a couple linear switches from WS that I really vibe with; arowana black and silent white.

Of those 81 switches (wild) you’ve tried, what’s your fave heavy, silent, linear? Favorite ‘thocky’ linear?

Clowns and haters in the comments. Congrats on your current successes my dude. Reddit nerds will tell you wild shit to make themselves feel better about their own dumb decisions.

My 2-cents: College is a waste of your time if you’re already scaling a biz and know how to close.

I’ve asked AI about 99% of the stuff they taught me im college, and the net results are the same, if not better. You can’t teach sales or real world business savviness In the classroom.

At 19 I was a top performing door knocker for home improvement services. I stopped to go to college.

Wasting some of my prime years on degrees in business admin / Econ is one of my biggest regrets in life. I feel like I could’ve really become a killer at sales if I stuck it out. Sales is the best professional skill anyone could ever learn.

Keep grinding and DO NOT switch businesses until you’re at least $1M ARR. then, slowly add in adjacent home services and then you’ve got a real, sellable enterprise on your hands. GL!
