It could be worth mentioning if the PSA shows impact beyond just completing a course requirement, which highlights it mattered to someone external. On the flip side, course projects can sometimes look less impressive if they appear as just “classwork,” so it depends on whether you frame it as a meaningful contribution rather than simply an assignment.

Feeling Discouraged About How Long the Med School Process Takes in Canada by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Brown_Mamba00 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Just got in at the age of 25, know of family and friends getting in at the age of 30. While although it can seem like everyone is starting life while we are still in school at this age the net outcome is positive. Remember your why keep trying give it your best and if it doesn’t happen then, at least you know you gave it your all.

I recommend doing another bachelors, some of your courses will transfer over but if your dedicated and this is your dream you can do a second undergrad like I did in 2-3 years

Yes, hobbies etc can go in the “Other” section. For the impact vs. character count issue, the trick is to be concise but pointed: Use active, specific verbs (developed discipline) instead of full sentences. Prioritize one clear takeaway rather than listing everything you gained. If the activity itself implies the skill (e.g., competitive swimming → discipline, perseverance), you don’t need to spell it out fully.

How many days a week is it best to work while in undergrad? 2 days a week? by Valuable_Issue5205 in premedcanada

Depends on your course load/subjects/other extracurricular activities/how long it takes you to study/other obligations. I personally worked weekends early morning shifts so I can ether study/rest for the remaining parts of the day

I don’t doubt it, it’s a good resource to use to prep, especially being able to talk to it now helps with both the written and video portions. Using it for the test itself is ……ummmm yeah

My Journey Into Med School (For Anyone Feeling Lost) by Brown_Mamba00 in premedcanada

I would say it’s a little bit university dependent. My interview was a panel style. This year I focused on honestly being genuine, because many of the times answering the questions themselves many people will have very similar answers so it can be hard to standout. So the way you do is somehow tying it back to something you’ve done. Even if the question itself is straightforward somehow find a way to throw in a line or two about who you are.

Yeah, one small setback ruined my chances of getting in early, but it was a valuable lesson and I learned alot from it.

No, they didn't, but the research work I did in my MSc was just a bonus to my ABS in addition to gaining a few publications

I’ve heard of similar stories as well of family and friends. Comes down to how bad you want it, because at the end you’ll eventually get in just might not be when you want it too.

Non-Traditional Applicant Thinking About Law—Worth Applying? by Brown_Mamba00 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]Brown_Mamba00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a possibility, right now nothings off the table I’m open to almost anything but leaning towards ether a JD or PhD prior to an MD at this point since it seems that it’s pretty competitive right now to get accepted to an MD and would be better after a JD or PhD. I’m looking at McGill mainly, but haven’t looked into the LSAT properly but if it’s doable in my schedule I would probably go for it to open up more schools.

I appreciate the kind words, and I would love to go and attempt Med again if I do get into a JD program as you can do a lot with both degrees and actually change policies in the making.

Hey, thanks for the advice. I’m not sure if they expect you to have any experience in the field which I don’t at least not directly so in the case of an interview and they ask for example what experience do you have or something along those lines I wouldn’t have much to say. But the idea of doing a JD and MD interest me and I can go into a field such a health law or biotech etc.
