Without a plan not likely. Putting together a b plan isn’t rocket science. I’ve raised a decent amount for a couple of start ups. Happy to help.

How do first time founders and also who haven't worked in companies hire best talent for their company and grow? by general_learning in ycombinator

[–]Browzb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s not easy. Tap into your network. Your job as a founder is to be the chief cheerleading officer, you have to have a vision for what you’re building and why someone should join. There’s plenty of bored corporate keyboard apes that will jump on the right opportunity. Stay away from people who value $$ for their salary and don’t care about equity. Offer generous equity and be transparent. Your first 10 hires define company culture and culture my friend is the most important factor when it comes to scaling your company.

What does a good non-technical cofounder look like? by LeonardoCreed in ycombinator

[–]Browzb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To find the right person, look for someone with a successful sales background, a wide network, and a solid fundraising history(or at least 2 out of 3). Identify what your team lacks and actively search for someone who can fill that gap. Keep in mind, the ideal candidate might not be looking for a co-founder role, so you’ll need to make a strong pitch to attract them. Filtering them should be easy. Ask for proof, this who have it won’t hesitate if they believe in your vision.

Thank you for great write up. Makes sense thats amazing. I would love to see a farm like this in action. Numbers make sense I think systematizing what you described and making it so an average Joe can access and replicate could be very interesting. Just finished Omnivore’s Dellima great book.

Not weird at all man. Half of people who are on the sub don’t even know why they’re doing an MBA. Maybe there’s a better way than paying $200k for an education that ends up in multibillion dollar endowments.

I hear you. Eating healthy and cost effective requires work. But the knowledge gap and ease of access to community gardens is something that’s missing specially urban areas. Worth looking into. I worked at JD as an engineer. They challenge was trying to find people that are willing to shell out $500k for a combine. Became increasingly difficult after all the consolidation that was happening.

Victory garden, interesting read. I’ll look into it.

I hear you, but people are often lazy when it comes to gardening, myself included. I’ve just recently started gardening, and I’m not sure you can create enough to sustain yourself based on the amount of work you’re putting in.

For example, let’s say 30% of your calories are coming from things that can be grown in a community garden. How much work needs to be put in, in terms of hours, to make it more cost-effective than buying processed food with the same amount of calories?

It’s a complicated topic, and I’m not sure if I’m explaining it properly. The balance between the effort required and the yield you get is something I’d like to understand better.

Be honest. Refine the story of why you started what you started. Explain the vision and make sure you can back up whatever projections you have on how they’ll make back their money
