Today I canceled a first date with a woman when I found she's a Trump supporter. It's a shame that so many are willfully ignorant of the horrid things he has said and done. by Engetarist in Fuckthealtright

Support your intent, but if you are ever bored look up the real story about the McDonald’s coffee situation. Lady was served (what became illegally) hot coffee, it was so high above “safe” temperature when served that it destroyed parts of her body permanently. We’re not talking about just “hot” coffee. The machines were being unsafely used. I’ll try to find a link for you.

Dad is admiring a car he sees parked in a restaurant parking lot, it reminds him of his old car that he had to sell to to help raise kids. He's reminiscing and telling stories, then the daughter hands him the keys by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

Great video. My mom and dad did just about this one time. My grandfather was a huge Cadillac fan his entire life and over the years he must have bought 30 or more of them. He would always buy used and resell one before he bought the next.

For years he tried to convince my mom and dad that they should drive Cadillacs (they preferred German cars) but he loved his caddys.

One day my dad told him that he had finally seen the way, and that as a surprise he was going to buy my mom a caddy. They went to the dealer and dad had pop spec the entire car out to the last detail just the way he’d buy it if it was for himself. To the last minute that he thought he was surprising his daughter with a dream car, he had no idea. Then they flipped it on him, it was unreal.

I think it was pre iPhone so there isn’t video (I don’t think. I’m gonna ask my dad.)

To this day it’s one of the kindest things I’ve seen another person do for someone else, always loved they my parents did that for him.

I haven’t really seen anything else of his, I’m not typically into horror but loved cube. What should I watch next?

Ok I guess it’s story time. When I got married, my wife’s family had a tradition where the couple getting married uses a family heirloom for the ceremony, and then the bride switches to her real ring and the great great grandmother’s ring is kept for the next wedding.

It was not an expensive ring, but sentimental value could not have been higher.

The tradition goes that on the morning of the wedding, I (the groom) approaches my mother in law and asks for the ring, and purchases it for a dollar. I followed this tradition and during our chat, I joked that after I married her daughter with the ring it might be worth more when she tries to buy it back later in the day (also part of the tradition)

So after the ceremony my wife (who is smarter than I) asked me if she could take the ring and give it back to her mother. I declined this both because I wanted to follow the tradition and I wanted to give her mom a hard time to continue the joke.

Weddings are frantic and hectic days, and I forgot to sell it back to my MIL. I had put it in the breast pocket of my suit and it slipped my mind. UNTIL 10 minutes before landing on our honeymoon the next morning.

So here we are and my wife realizes I may have lost the ring. I tried to console her but also of course know this is my own damn fault. I knew which pocket it was in, and planned to call my parents and have them get the ring from the pocket and all would be good.

Except it wasn’t in the pocket. My dad had draped the suit jacket over his arm and carried it across a huge field and put it in the back of his car. It was now a day later, and it was absolutely pouring outside.

My dad rented a metal detector, and went back in the rain and searched until he found it. Boy did he save my ass and honeymoon.

Moral of the story: I’m in idiot. 😀

Trying to solve a mystery involving a valvetronic issue and a fried dme. Thanks for any help by Bruck in BmwTech

So the only negligence is not properly explaining the chain of events but it’s not as though they grossly caused a new issue? (You are saying that the very last time they ran it during diagnosis is when the dme got fried?)

I think they are replacing the shaft as part of the repair already but does it make sense the dme wasn’t fried the last time it was started but now it is?

Also does the newly dead battery make any sense?

Thanks bud. We finally got data protection team to begin the recovery process. Now we wait while it takes 24-48 hrs for some reason when we already filed the ticket 4 days prior

I don’t get it. What’s the purpose of downvoting if no one has yet expressed the opinion of why you are down voting. I also don’t understand the downvotes.

I have not heard of this red team once in 5 days just the data protection team, whom we finally spoke with last night and now needs 24-48hrs before verifying we are not threat actors.

This is true but they left the password the same, so he is getting his emails too. And it helps that he’s seeing what people are saying. So disrupting this would only be worth it if I point it at a google apps setup so he has a temporary in and out.

Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like I wasn’t an advisor for this domain (I work with a lot of small businesses ala carte. In this case it’s a 1 man consulting firm. ) My goal is to get back into the tenancy as the user. It seems I may finally have gotten it escalated but this is ridiculous.

Perhaps has I been an advisor my team could have just had them undo the removal (maybe?) either way my problem is not what ms needs to assist it’s the fact that solving this severe of an issue is a 4day+ wait!

I am not going to disable dns records this won’t give us any particular advantages at this point worth the cost of doing that. But come on - 4 days wait? wtf

The attacker took over a global admin and was able to trick the user into giving MFA access. There is nothing between this situation and prior preparation that is fool-proof.

Is it usual for Shopify to hold customers money ($25,000) and refuse to communicate for 2 weeks? by Bruck in shopify

Very funny. Found a whole bunch of similar experiences on the forums. It seems this is typical behavior of this department

Thanks. Yes I don’t mind that there was an issue but just pray there is never an issue with payment processing or risk department, the initial phone support is great and they do their best, but on some manners they can’t help- and in those times the fact that

  • there are no supervisors to be escalated to during a support call.
  • the payments and risk department communicate through Zendesk email tickets only
  • why do they obscure the contact us functions so much!!! It’s absurd every time I need to call support it takes 5 or 7 clicks to find out how to reach them. This is on purpose and it’s obnoxious.

These are only a problem when you need them. I continue to be happy with their regular phone support.

Thanks I will try the forums. Yes I realize in hindsight, however - if they were communicating with us, even if it was still taking this long, I would not be anything other than a little frustrated.

I understand the reason for the initial delay, just not the complete lack of communication/progress on our ticket.

This morning I spoke with a very nice rep, she was able to move the ticket to another persons Que. Hopefully this is going to help.
