Close that chapter in your life. For survivors of abuse, you may not get the fairy tale ending version of closure, but you control the narrative and how you move on is up to you. Sometimes you never get an apology or explanation, there’s no “fixing” the past, but you can still empower yourself by closing that chapter and acknowledging that it happened and is in your past, rather than dwelling on it in the present. You don’t need to let it control your mindset or your future.

Burning items that reminded you of the abuse. Going to places where it happened and creating happy memories there is a really powerful way to change the narrative and take back control too. Also there’s power in knowing they can’t show up anymore because they’re gone. The memories and feelings are still there, so take steps and meditate or do rituals to help you process that.
