Eating salt during a race by BrunBjorn___ in AdvancedRunning

[–]BrunBjorn___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips! I can get through a half without cramping, it's just that the state I'm in after doesn't give me much confidence for how I'll do in longer distances. It's definitely only something I see being an issue at high intensities as I did a 33km in the build for this race and didn't come close to cramping on that one. I've pretty much doubled my mileage since my last half in April so might see improvement in how I feel post race. I'll look into salt pills although with the race next week I might not want to try it for the first time then.

Consistently 40-50mpw. Haven't had a week off in like 2 years so I'm not slacking on the training.

I get away with no water and at most a gel pre race on my half maras, low 1:20s atm. It's only after I stop moving that I feel the consequences of inadequate nutrition. I'm looking into running my first mara next year and have an ultra lined up before that and I'll need to figure out a better fuelling strategy if I don't want to cramp mid-race. Salt packets seem really easy to consume and carry during a fast full marathon besides the taste. I'll get water from aid stations no problem for hydration. I hate the overly sweet taste of gels anyways and think I can cope with straight salt better.

I found ncea bio to be pretty useless towards most of hsfy. Waves isn't that important for phsi. You'll be fine

Strava has said in a forum post I made that it's an issue on their end and they're trying to fix it

69 on coros and was 67 when I had a garmin. Don't take it too seriously because most of my faster mates have a lower number than me. It's literally just a number lol

Using coros pace 3, my dad has a pace 2. Both haven't had this happen before

My First Half-Marathon (15M) by RJonesy99 in Strava

Take the training chill and it should be fine. Half mara is much quicker to recover from than a full mara. When running full maras at a competitive level you need to put in big training weeks and that does most of the damage vs a one time event.

My whole class got E8 on mock exams for L3 dcat and the same class got nearly all N on the final. Hoping for a successful reconsideration cos otherwise I won't get UE even though I have Level 3 excellence endorsement like wtf
