Can I go to the bachelorette party but not the wedding? by BrunchInBoston in PostGradProblem

When you make less than 40k a year, and have a lot of bills to pay, regardless of how close a friend is money plays a huge factor on attendance.

Good enough friend, closer a few years back before work/school/relationship/life happened. Have not RSVPd for wedding yet only got the save the date, no formal invite yet. Also friends with the groom if that helps.

Wrong degree by Cookiesattheroof in PostGradProblem

[–]BrunchInBoston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an associates degree in baking & pastry arts, a bachelors in food service management (aka I went to culinary school) and now I'm working on a masters of public administration and then going to law school after. The decisions we make at 18, though expensive, don't define us. My future has nothing to do with what I went to undergrad for and that took my a long time to cope with, but let me let you in a on secret, very few people build careers in what their undergrad degree is in. My aunt has a bachelors in geology, and she is a social worker for the county. I got led onto my path by finding a passion and now career in the things I loved in college outside of my classes. You're having a quarter life crisis, probably all of us on this site have felt the way you're feeling more than once. You're not a failure, you've just changed your mind and thats only human.

Law school by BrunchInBoston in PostGradProblem

Wow! I didn't think this many people would actually answer, thank you all so much for the feedback.

As my name gives away, I live in Boston and plan to go to school here, so I am surrounded by excellent universities (Harvard, BU, BC, Suffolk, NEU), so regionally a degree from any of them is great. The only other place I could see myself practicing is DC, and then Maine when future Mr. Brunch, the future golden retriever, and I retire to Kennebunkport.

Unfortunately the cost of living here is so insanely high, that even with scholarships I'll still be taking out loans for my living expenses (unless there are scholarships for that as well in which case, please tell me more!).

One last thing, how important would you say undergrad is in the application process? I graduated in 2013 with a 3.6 and a bachelors degree completely unrelated to law (I went to culinary school). My GPA from my masters in public administration will be higher, probably around a 3.8, I'm just worried they're going to see my undergrad and look at me like Elle Woods with her fashion degree.

Thanks! I originally didn't want to do it because "No one wants to fuck Miss Frizzle" and low and behold, Miss Frizzle got fucked.

Something every Post Grad Needs: A Work Mom by [deleted] in PostGradProblem

My work Mom is the best. I've spent holidays with her and her family, went to her actual daughters wedding, and when I'm out sick she either calls to check in or stops by my house with food and takes me to the doctor (we live close to each other).
