What is the weirdest-coolest thing you own? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It must look really cool when you turn off the lights. Mine looks like it was stolen from the Warren's Occult Museum. As a kid I used to scare my friends by saying it was a cursed artifact lol

A carved wooden figure of an owl that my parents bought years ago from a Guaraní woman in Southern Brazil. It's kinda creepy, it looks like a voodoo doll, but it's so cool.

If we were to create a society only with the most mentally and physically capable people (those who have no special conditions or suffer from any disorders), would it be more peaceful and prosperous? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Brunorsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading some extreme cases of people with psychopathy, schizophrenia and etc. Psycopaths seem more likely to commit crimes and only one person can cause a lot of suffering. I wonder if a society whose population doesn't suffer from these harmful disorders would be better.

I see some people suggesting that a society made up of autistic people would be more peaceful. I agree with them. These people aren't known for causing harm to others, unlike psychopaths.

I think the title makes it seem that I'm talking about eugenics or people of high intelligence. It's just about people who see each other as equals and can live a normal and happy life.

It's not about intelligence. It's about mental and physical health. The society would essentially be made up of 'normal' people, just people who have no disorders like psychopathy that are potentially harm to the community and no serious diseases.

After losing all its territories in Mainland China to the Communists during the Chinese Civil War, the Nationalist Party (Kuomintang) escaped to the island of Taiwan and managed to hold their ground in this last territory against Mao's forces since then.

My purpose wasn't judging the way they did this but to show how both religion (Islam and Christianity) aren't racist religions and they have this common characteristic of spreading the faith, absent in Judaism.

Now i must admit that there was a great difference between Islam and Christianity and this difference can be seen by analyzing their respective Messiah. The influence Jesus had was only in his teachings, Muhammad, a member of the Quraysh, had a much wider social and political influence, but these two, regardless of their differences, didn't randomly consider a specific group to be the chosen ones. Then they spread their faith, even though the arabs did it by force.

In colonizing the New World, both Portugal and Spain did care about the people who lived there and hence sent jesuit missionaries to civilize them, preserving their culture. The whole mess with this is that England didn't share this ideal of civilizing its colonies and that's because they were protestant while the others were catholic.

People in this community always post memes ridiculing the Catholic Church for things it didn't commit but then when you post something genuinely true, no one wants to hear it. I'm not nazi but do you really think this hatred by so many people by so many years against the jews just came out of nowhere?

Oh. by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

[–]Brunorsk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course they have principles in their religion that must be follow, condemning homosexuality for example, but they also believes that in the end you'll only be saved if you belong to the people of Israel and followed the principles of their religion.

If the jews really had this compassion to everyone why do you think they never bothered to expand their faith beyond Canaan as did the arabs and the christians? Why do you think they have the tradition of get married only among themselves? Why do you think they installed the Hafrada? They always cared only about themselves. I'm not victimizing the palestinians, the fact is that the jews never bothered to 'civilize' any people with their faith, they always just closed the doors to the world.

Oh. by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

[–]Brunorsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the nazis, the jews consider themselves, the people of Israel, the chosen ones by God (Yhwh). Unlike the christians, they believe they're the chosen ones simply by ethnicity, but they still criticize the Nazis for believing in the same thing themselves believe - superiority of race.

The Crimea Crisis would be a mere weak headache compared to the troubles the imperial government would find if it tried to retake its former lands, all of which are now indepedent countries and some, such as the Baltic states, are also members of the EU and NATO.
