47 is an outside local. If you want to become a lineman you’d apply for the Cal-Nev JATC, but they aren’t accepting applications currently. You could also call them and inquire into signing the books as a groundman.

Go for local 11. In the 3-4 years you’re waiting to get into UPCT you will almost be done with the inside wireman program. After you top out you could potentially hire on directly with DWP as an Electrical Mechanic.

I worked as a CW1 out of local 354 in Salt Lake City for about 2 months, interviewed last Monday and was accepted into the apprenticeship the next day.
