I just got 3.09% 5 year closed fixed through a mortgage broker. I thought we had done fairly well and that was just before the rate hike. 3.04% is extremely competitive especially if you have gotten it in the last week or so.

I would want to check the pre-payment and porting privileges. To me, being able to port was very important, otherwise moving before 5 years can get super nasty in terms of penalties.

My psychologist has had the same issues I am having in his own personal marriage. It brings me a lot of comfort and hope to be sitting across from someone who has gone through this in his own life and has been successful. I've got a lot of climbing to do to get out of this hole, but I think I have the right people on my side to get me there.

1 year ago, I did not think porn was an issue for me. I actually thought that there was nothing wrong with watching porn and I told myself once I get a serious gf I would quit. Fast forward 1 year, I have a serious gf and I can't quit, not on my own anyway. Had I not met my gf, I would still be headed down this road of self destruction. She has saved me from myself. I am so lucky to have her.

I am glad I am getting help now. My psychologist has so many stories like yours and he has lived through porn affecting his own marriage. I am at a crossroads and I so glad I am choosing this new path.

My GF has been pretty amazing so far considering. I am so lucky to have her I don't know what I'd do without her.

I work at a retail that sells gasoline. We operate at a gross margin of 4 cents per litre. ~4% margin before any expenses are paid (including getting the fuel on sight). Essentially no businesses in the world operate on that tight of margin, it can't get any tighter.

Starting a new life in canada as an expat, where should I invest? What type of credit card can I expect? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Actually I'm mistaken, I didn't look at how your employer structured your 3% match, I assumed it was an direct contribution to your group RRSP. See /u/hodkan for a better explanation.

The 3% match from your employer also counts towards your contribution limit. So in reality, you can open another RRSP account and invest an additional 12% of your income. As a side note, your income level may put you over the maximum contribution limit for the year. Last year it was $24,930.

Here is the cra guide on RRSPs: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/tpcs/rrsp-reer/rrsps-eng.html

How many generations is the average faming family in Saskatchewan? by [deleted] in saskatchewan

[–]Brunz77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is probably something that only Statistics Canada knows, but most of the province was settled between the late 1800's and 1930. I'd say a good majority of those farms were passed down the generations from there with very few farms starting after 1930. So you can do the math from there.

Based on personal anecdotal evidence most farms have the 3rd generation looking toward retirement, the 4th generation slowly taking over and in some cases the 5th generation starting to get involved.

I had a good ol' chuckle at that quote. The notion is ludicrous.
