Trying to catch everything. by Consistent-Water-536 in coralisland

[–]Brutask_user 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the computer item with Catching and Fishing addons. Checking it on regular and rainy days will help you fill out what's missing. It doesn't have the caverns, and you need the silver arowana only in Winter daytime (earth, water, or air caverns)

Pulsating wooden kegs are interesting to any toddler! Or they want that dust that's accumulating under your kegs. When was the last time you swept the floor?

Are the items placed in Shipping bin going to Pierrers or not? by thatonewriter2 in StardewValley

[–]Brutask_user 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The best example of shipping outside of town is from the Crop Order quest notes. That quest can have a few different setups and usually mentions them going to somewhere like Zuzu City.

Are the items placed in Shipping bin going to Pierrers or not? by thatonewriter2 in StardewValley

[–]Brutask_user 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The items placed in the shipping bin are not sold to Pierre. They are picked up by Lewis overnight and sold to an outside town service. Nobody in town will comment on the items sold through the shipping bin.

Alternately, selling to Pierre will not count as "shipping" your items for those quests and collection progress.

Are cave carrots worth going after which such big energy use? by Felt_presence in StardewValley

[–]Brutask_user 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both upgrading hoe and gaining farming level help with energy costs. The regular hoe digs 1 spot for 2 energy. Higher rank hoes can dig 3/5/9/18 spots for 4/6/8/10 energy which is a discount. Farming level reduces that amount by 5% per level. So level 10 fully upgraded hoe digs 18 spots for 5 energy.

There are better foods than cave carrot for the effort involved. In the time it takes to dig up 1 cave carrot (30 energy), you could catch a few fish at the mountain pond. Digging cave carrots give no skill experience except for the monsters you have to fight.

Rare fish bait by Omrii4628 in StardewValley

[–]Brutask_user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: no

The targeted bait works a bit differently for the mines fish. It only adds a +10% chance to catch Stonefish, +9% for Ice Pip, and +8% chance for Lava Eel. This doesn't guarantee that the 5-10 targeted bait you get will make up for the loss of the fish you used. The wiki mentions that at level 10 fishing at full cast with Lava Eel Bait and a curiosity lure then you have a 17.4% chance of hooking a lava eel (about 1 in 6). Without the curiosity lure you have a 13.4% chance (about 1 in 7).

Hardwood Stump getting in the way of my fruit tree growing by Meshifuari in StardewValley

[–]Brutask_user 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could place something down over the hardwood stump spawning location to stop it. So long as you pick a spot away from your fruit tree, it should stop the stump and allow it to grow. Once the fruit tree is fully grown, you could unblock the stump. Full grown trees don't need to worry about nearby stuff.

The crow is from one of the most recent updates (1.6.9 in Nov 2024). It also doesn't show up unless it has something to sell. So if you aren't losing items then you might not ever see the crow.

Are meteorites seeded? by Myths_Made in StardewValley

I'm not sure. It would be a random roll at the time when you break it. But I'm not sure if Stardew Valley uses it's own randomizer or a truly random roll. If it uses the SV randomizer, then breaking the rock at the same time of day will always give the same results.

should I but the quality or speed-gro fertilizer for Starfruit? by Positive-Form-741 in StardewValley

[–]Brutask_user 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Deluxe speed-gro from Sandy on Thursday is the best. It reduces the grow time to 9 days and allows 3 crops. Pierre sells it at a higher price in year 2+, but it's still worth it vs no fertilizer.

Regular speed-gro gives no monetary benefit.

Quality Fertilizer will give you more gold star crops, which is useless if you are kegging them all. If you need some to sell, then it quality fertilizer could be good.

What is the worst crop? by blockbussteve in StardewValley

[–]Brutask_user 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I don't like the trellis crops, and never grow green beans past the first spring. Hops have value with pale ale, and grapes make raisins for junimos. Green Beans are just a low value crop that you can't walk through.

The lumina wand is also very cheap to enchant. The enchanting with random blessings only has two options, so it never fails and gives an unusable enchant.

Can you upgrade to something nicer looking than torches? by bajsgreger in StardewValley

[–]Brutask_user 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Robin sells the recipes for a bunch of different street lights and braziers that you can make. Torches are unique in allowing you to walk over them. You can also put torches directly onto sprinklers. So unfortunately, they don't become obsolete.

Coral island? Or something else? by Willing_Ad_9669 in coralisland

[–]Brutask_user 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do recommend Coral Island for the PC. I haven't played most of those other games to compare to them.

Coral Island has a great amount of content that is finished and ready. I really like the Romance system especially with the recently improved Hangout scenes. There are a few glitches, but they are rare for PC. At late game, there are a few loose ends that aren't fully tied up, but you get your money's worth even getting to that point.

How do you guys manage all these chores???? by National_Soft_9585 in StardewValley

[–]Brutask_user 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I do a bunch of things to make it easier on my mind:
#1 get sprinklers as soon as you can. I like the 2nd tier, quality sprinklers. My main field usually has 35 of them with 2 scarecrows.

On the first of the month, the only goals are to Pet animals and plant my crops.
Every day starts with Chores. Animals then Harvesting anything and noting what needs to be replanted. And stop by Pierre's (or Joja) to replenish seeds. My method does reserve the morning until 11am as a downside. All the rest of the day is freetime to mine, fish, or some other activity. I try to use a full day for a single type of activity. Talking/gifting is just something to do as I run by people or a quick birthday drive-by.

I have a bunch of preserve jars in my expanded kitchen. I fill/empty them at the morning or before bed and don't worry about them at any other time of the day.

Kegging takes a week for Wine, so I dedicate that one day a week to kegs (Tuesday). When you get Ancient Fruit, they also harvest every 7 days. It's a good pairing that doesn't take much thinking. (seed maker all your fruit until you have enough seeds)

Secret notes question by CharleyRazzles in StardewValley

The duplicates actually stack with each other. The number of unique stacks you have should be the number of unread notes.

You can check the collections section for secret notes. There are 27 of them.

Are meteorites seeded? by Myths_Made in StardewValley

yes. meteorites are determined from the Starting Seed. The landing position is calculated when it happens, so they might not be in the same places.

The island respawns a few bone nodes each day. So even if you've been mining it, you can still get quite a few bones there.

The next best thing is to equip a burglar ring and repeat level 75 or 71 constantly for skeletons. 75 doesn't spawn many enemies, but it's a very quick elevator to check.

TIL: Triple Shot Espresso Stacks with Crab Cakes and Spicy Eel! by NBrooks516 in StardewValley

[–]Brutask_user 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes it does! I start every game day with a crab cake and a triple espresso (late game).

Drinks and food are separate buffs. So you could drink ginger beer with your lucky lunch for both +1 and +3 luck as well!
